Chapter 17 Shadows in the Back

"Luke stop! You are going to get us in trouble"! My laughter made my plea less effective as Luke continued to grasp the dissected cat's mouth and faced it towards me. "But Kat, I thought what we had was special", Luke said in a high voice, opening and closing the dead cat's mouth in his gloved hands. "You are so immature and gross"! I said laughing.

The other groups surrounding us in our Anatomy and Physiology class seemed annoyed at our chikdlike behavior. Luke and I had finished our assignment and were supposed to dispose the dissected subject. Unfortunately, Luke had other plans. "Luke if we are caught we are so going to get a zero". Luke rolled his eyes. "Party pooper", he pouted as he placed the cat down on the table. I giggled as he quivered his lip and frowned. "You are such a dork", I teased as I began to pull out the body bag for the cat.

The bell rang shortly afterwards as Luke and I collected our belongings and began to walk together towards the dance room. "You know that cat's soul is going to haunt you for eternity, right"? Luke laughed at my statement. "It wouldn't be the first thing to try". I rolled my eyes and laughted again.

I wasn't sure how he did it. But Luke had this effect on me. Always managed to make me happy with his charming, yet dorky antics. After the fall out with Beth and Calum, I wasn't sure if I would ever be able to trust anyone again. But then, Luke came in the picture. Perhaps I had judged him too harshly when we first met.

"So what are you doing tomorrow night"? Luke's question brought me back out of my thoughts. "Tomorrow night"? Luke smirked at me, "you know. The night after today. What are your plans"? I raised an eyebrow at him. "Why do you need to know"? Luke chuckled at my response. "Well I was thinking we could go on date number two. My place maybe"? I blushed slightly. "Already trying to take me home with you, now that isn't very gentleman-like". Luke grinned from ear to ear as his sky blue eyes gazed at me. "Actually I was thinking we coukd just hang, maybe a movie. But if you are suggesting something else"- "oh shut up" I said as I punched his arm playfully.

We began to approach the studio as Luke turned to me. "So do I have an answer"? Luke said after his laughter broke. I smirked at him. "I don't know," I sais playfully, "I'll have to get back to you", I said with a wink as I walked into the girl's changing room. As I entered, I blushed slightly when I heard Luke mutter the word "tease".

Our rehearsal was going progressively well, as I was teaching Luke movements that I wasn't sure even some trained dancers could do. "You know," I said in between a turn, "I still don't buy that you haven't done any of this before". I heard Luke chuckle as we broke into our samba roll. "I never said I haven't done it before". I raised an eyebrow as we broke out of the roll and I did another turn. "You sure are boy of many secrets". Luke chuckled again, "I suppose you could say that". I broke out of hold and placed my hand on my hips and grinned at the blonde, breathing heavily. "And will I ever get to know any of them"?

Luke's eyes gazed into mine, as he placed his hand on my left cheek. His touch was so cold as it went to my hair pulling it back to expose my neck. He looked at the area he exposed for a short while, then gazed into my eyes, lust transparent in them. "I am more concerned with the secrets you hold". I raised an eyebrow and giggled slightly. "Right, ok then. What? Did you kill someone or something"? I saw Luke tense up slightly as his expression became dark and heavy.

The change in mood made me feel uneasy as I looked into his emotionless, yet powerful gaze. He suddenly broke into a smirk. "Tell you what", he said, twirling as strand of my scarlet hair, "if you meet me tomorrow, I will reveal all it is you need to know". I tilted my head in confusion. "Why not now," I said with a hesitant grin, "trying to give me incentive"? Luke chuckled, "that," he paused, "and also because there is a time and place for everything". His eyes trailed down to my neck, hungrily, and he looked back into my eyes. "Just a bit more patience", he said as he leaned in close to me and connected our lips.
