The click of my heels echoed throughout the auditorium as I walked across the stage. My ponytailed hair swung back and forth like a pendulum as my black skirt swished in the wind my small speed produced.

Luke stood center stage looking paler than usual. If I didn't know any better, I would think he had taken off his leather jacket to leave only his white shirt because he was hot from nerves. But that wasn't possible from Luke Hemmings could it? After all, what could he be nervous about?

Luke stared at me with hesitant eyes as he kept his hands folded in front of him, as him he was scared to touch me.

I gave him a perplexed look when I got directly in front of him. "What's with you?", I asked rather bluntly. Luke bit his lip before answering. "It's nothing", he said softly, "just awaiting my partner to give me instruction".

My eyebrows scrunched in suspicion of the vampire before I decided to ignore my concern and nod to him.  "Alright," I said getting into my teaching mode, "since it has been a while, why don't we warm up a little with the basics". "I don't think that is quite necessary". Luke's voice caught me by surprised as my eyes went to his.

"What do you mean you remember how to do the routine perfectly"? Luke's ocean blue eyes scanned my challenging stance with my hand to hip.

His nerves broke away slightly as he gave me a soft smile. "Something like that".

Intrigued, I walked downstage with my phone in my hand. I scrolled to the song of choice and set it down on the stage, pressing the play button. I motioned him to come closer with narrowed eyes as the beginning notes began to play. He walked towards me as got in the starting position before I even said anything else. The downbeat was approaching. "Alright tough guy", I said with a smirk getting ready, "show me what you got".

The beat dropped and we glided across the stage as I would push off his chest, do an extension and he would guide me back. He then lifted my arm over my head  so I could do a perfect spin. Throughout the routine I was shocked at Luke's technique and poise. His lines were beautiful, his posture was great, his frame was excellent, and his footwork was very polished. Plus, I am not gonna lie, I got a bit distracted on how well he was able to do the hip motions.

The other thing that was surprising, was his memory of the choreography. In many ways, it seemed he knew it better than I did. This didn't feel like I was teaching him. In fact, it didn't feel like he needed teaching.

The dance came to close as I turned in to him and we ended in a dip, our foreheads touching. The song ended as silence filled the room only interrupted by our heavy breathing. Our eyes gazed into each others as we seemed entranced to one another. Neither one of us looking away or making an attempt to escape the other. I felt Luke's hot breath caress my lips as they tingled slightly.

"H-how..when.." I couldn't speak as I was glue to his eyes and astonished by his ability. He smiled to me. "After being alive for over hundred years, you tend to learn some things".

We got out of our ending position and he stepped back from me, our eyes never disconnecting. "Plus, I may have been there when samba was first developed", he said with a laugh. "So you mean to tell me, that you knew how to do...that.....all this time".
