Jace's POV
I walk up the steps of Clarke and Clary's house. I am really happy because Clary hasn't told Izzy about us yet. Clarke is the only other person who knows. I go in and Clarke and Clary are setting up for the party. I see a table with gifts so I set the bag on the table. Clary whispers in Clarke's ear. Clarke nods and leaves. I go over to Clary.
"She went to get the cake," she says as I start helping her.
"Where is Avy?" I ask as we finish tying streamers up.
"Taking a nap," she says.
"Okay," I say.
"We have to tell Izzy and everyone else," she says.
"They might get the hint if we are near each other and if you are smiling around me," I say.
"True," she says, "if they don't say anything by the end of the party we will tell them."
"Sounds good to me," I say. She smiles and goes to get Avy ready. She come down and Avy smiles when she sees me.
"Dada," she says. I take her out of Clary's arms and spin her around making her squeal.
"Happy Birthday Baby Girl," I say. I think about what has happened this past week. I have heard my daughter say mama and dada. She stood up on her own too. A car pulls up to the house. Clary goes out to see that Clarke picked up Izzy when she got the cake. I look at Clary who smiles.
"Looks like she might find out sooner," she says.
"You planned this," I say. She nods as Izzy comes in. She hands Avy to her and takes off towards the stairs. I chase her up to her room. I shut the door and lock it. I stand in front of it as she walks over to me.
"Why did you plan this?"
"Because I know Izzy will figure it out," she says. She looks up at me. I smile and give her a kiss. She grabs my hand and we go back downstairs. Everyone else got here when we were upstairs. Izzy sees our adjoined hands and smiles.
"If you are going to scream go to the basement," Clary says. Izzy smiles and starts talking to Avy. No one else knows she can talk a little.
"Mama," she says pointing at Clary. Izzy points to me and asks her who I am.
"Dada," Avy says. Everyone smiles at her and Clary decides Avy should open her presents first. She tells Izzy to bring Avy over to her. Izzy takes her over and hands her to Clary who sets Avy on the floor. Avy slowly stands up and I set the first present on the floor in front of her. She looks at it then she looks at me.
"Open it up Baby Girl," I say.
She looks at Clary who nods so she turns back to the present and stares at it. I get down beside her and go to show her how to unwrap it. She frowns and pushes my hand away. She then looks at it some more and reaches towards the end where it was taped. She neatly unwraps it and we stare in shock.
The present is from Izzy and Simon and it is a dress up doll with ten different outfits. The next one is a black sweater from Alec and a glittery pink dress from Magnus. The next one is a pink blanket with black runes from Jocelyn and Luke. Then Avy gets a small pink weapons belt from Mayrse and a toy shadowhunter's weapon kit from Clarke. Jonathan got her a small plastic heart for her wall that says, Uncle's Favorite Angel.
The last two gifts are from me and Clary. She opens the one from me first. I got her a white angel teddy bear with gold wings. Lastly she opens the one from Clary. Clary painted a picture for Avy's room of the three of us. In it is a smiling Clary who is holding a smiling Avy and I have my arm around Clary and I am smiling down at them.
"Dada look," she says smiling, looking up at me, and pointing to the picture.
"I saw that. It is beautiful," I say to her, "can you tell everyone thank you?"
"Tank you," she says as she turns towards everyone. They all smile at her and Clarke goes to the kitchen. Avy looks at Clary.
"Mama," she says, "cake?"
Everyone laughs and Clary picks up Avy. We go to the kitchen and Izzy takes pictures of Avy standing by her cake. We spend the rest of the party passing Avy around. Everyone stays and helps clean up. We order a pizza for dinner.
After everyone leaves I start to take all of Avy's new stuff up to her room. I go to grab the bear but it is not there. I look on the couch where Clary set Avy and see Avy sleeping with the bear. I pick her up and take her to her room I tuck her in and kiss her forehead before going back downstairs. I check the time and realize it is almost nine o'clock.
"Clary, I should probably head back to the institute," I say as I head towards the door. She grabs my arm stopping me from leaving.
"Don't leave," she says, "I have been having nightmares about Jonathan from when he was Sebastian. Can you sleep here tonight?"
"Of course I can," I say.
We tell say goodnight to Clarke and Jonathan and go upstairs. I realize that I don't have any extra clothes with me. When I tell Clary this she smiles and tells me that she still has some of my shirts that she stole when we first started dating. I laugh as we reach her room. She grabs two shirts from her drawer and a pair of leggings. She hands me one of the shirts and tells me to go to the bathroom. I do as she tells me and when I come out she isn't in her room. I sit on her bed and wait for her to come back. When she does she hands me a pair of men's pajama pants. She goes into the bathroom and turns on the sink. I change into the pants and realize she is singing.

She stops singing and comes out of the bathroom. It is then when I realize what she is wearing. She has a black tank top and black leggings on. She comes over to me.
"What were you singing?" I ask as she sits down beside me on the bed.
"It's called Believe in Me," she says, "it is by Demi Lovato."
I nod and we go to sleep.
