I heard the noise of Sarah getting out of bed, I made her a cup of coffee and as she came downstairs, she grabbed it, half asleep, but in a couple of seconds, she turned around fast. She saw me sitting in the kitchen with a cup of coffee in my hands and asked,"Why are you still here, did you not sleep?" I look up at her, my eyes showing how tired I actually was and said, "No I didn't sleep because I wanted to watch over you to make sure nothing bad happened, plus it's nice to be able to actually have someone around in the mornings to talk to." She looked away, a little shy and said, "Well it's a Friday, so if you want to you can skip school and sleep here." I looked out the window and asked her, "Are you sure that's okay with you to let a stranger sleep in your house?" She looks over at me and says with sincerity in her eyes, "Your not a stranger anymore, I don't mind if you sleep here, you can use one of the other beds in the house. I am going to go to school though because we have a test and I don't want to miss it." I looked at her and said in a soft voice, "Thank you, I guess I'll see you later then because I'll probably sleep all day, so you may have to wake me up when you get back." And that's just how the day went, she went off to school and I went upstairs, choose a bed and feel asleep in it. I woke up later, with a warm feeling surrounding me, still half asleep, I tried to roll over and when I did I realized something was latching on to me and when I finally woke up completely. I realized that Sarah had crawled into the bed and was holding me. I thought to myself, "I guess she must have been tired after school, but why did she come in here and why did she grab onto me." I pulled myself out of her embrace and shook her to wake her up. When she finally woke up, she looked up at me and after she realized where she was at she started to panic and starting stuttering, "I...I'm sorry I just meant to wake you up, but you looked so comfortable that I ended up falling asleep next to you and I guess while I was asleep I put my arms around you." I looked at her and said, "It's okay, I was just a little surprised when I woke up, it was just so warm that I didn't really want to move. Well I guess I should let you have your house back and head home." As I walked out of the room I heard her say this, "You don't have to leave you know, you could stay...." It was just a whisper, but I heard it and I turned around and asked her, "What do you mean by that?" She looked down and said in a lonely voice, "I mean this house is huge and it's only ever just me here, it would be nice to have someone else that lives here so I'm not so alone and you would have someone here to keep you company too." I looked at her, my usually unbreakable will to not cry breaking and said, "Are you sure that you are okay with that?" She looks up at me and shakes her head yes. I felt something I hadn't felt in a long time, happiness, even if it was just for a moment, I felt happy. I said this to her, "Then I will take you up on your offer then, but I will need to go get some stuff from my place and I should leave a note for my parents. I know this is a pain, but could I ask you to come with me and help me get some stuff together?" She looked up at me with a smile and said, "I don't mind at all." And so we walked out the door, the door that belonged to my new home, my new start. It was just a small one, so she didn't notice, but I shed a single tear.
