I woke up the next day, same as always. It was a pretty normal morning, nothing out of the ordinary, but as I walk out my door to walk to school, I saw Sarah standing there, as if she was about to knock or to ring the door bell. I ask her while walking up the street, "What are you doing here?" She replies, "I was just thinking maybe we could walk to school together." I looked at her and said, "Are you sure you want to do that because I'm always late because I don't like to rush." She looks over at me from my side and says, "I'm okay with that. After all I want to know more about you." I began to say something in protest, but I decide to let the matter go, there would be no stopping her now. And that's how we went, walking to school together, starting little conversations here and there. Pretty soon, before I realized it, the school day was over already. As I got up to leave, Sarah blocked my path and said, "We're not going to the lookout yet, your coming with me for a little bit." I wanted to fight back or to refuse, but I really didn't care that much, so I just silently followed her, as our classmates stared in wonder whispering, "How did she manage to get him to talk to her and he is even listening to her demand." After we leave the school grounds, we start heading in a direction I never take from school, so i decide that it is best to keep following her. We end up at a nice looking house and we walk up to the door. She turns around and looks at me saying, "This is my home, I wanted to bring you here, to prove that you can trust me. So come on in and no I won't let you refuse." So that's how I ended up sitting in her room, waiting for her to get some drinks. I saw no real sign of a parent or a guardian. She came back in the room with some soda for each of us. I told her in a stern manner, "You know you shouldn't let random people in your house while your parents aren't here, what would you have done if I decided to do something, you would have had no one to come and help you." She looks at me, stunned, "Why would you say that, do you plan on doing something to me." I looked at her and chuckled a little, "No, but you need to be aware that something like that could happen. It's for your safety to know something like that. What if I would have tried to rape you?" She look terrified as she said, "Why would you say something like that, do you want me to trust you or not?" I looked at her with a dead pan stare and said, "I don't need anyone to trust me and I don't need to trust anyone, the only reason I'm telling you anything is because for some reason you seem like someone I can trust. I guess I did go a little to far though, I'm sorry." I actually was sincere about my apology. She looks away from me and towards the door and says, "I accept your apology, just please don't say things like that, you really scared me there for a second." Getting past all of that I ask the real question that's been on my mind, "So why did you want me to come here with you?" She gets a sad look on her face, "I want you to trust me, so I'll tell you one of my secrets. My parents aren't here because they have work or vacation, they are dead, they died about 3 years ago in a ship wreak. I have been alone ever since, no friends, no parents, they left all there money and this house to me. I never even got to go to the funeral because there were no bodies recovered, so I had to have a little private one here and it hurt me a lot that no one cared." I could see her trying to hold back tears at this point and she started covering her face when she couldn't hold them back. She said, through her sobs, "What I'm trying to say is, don't make yourself lonely, you will regret it. I reached out to you because you were lonely, but more importantly I wanted you to be my friend, I don't want to be alone anymore." My heart couldn't take being cold anymore and I reached over to her and pulled her into a hug and whispered into her ear, "You have made your point, I don't want to be alone anymore, but I don't know if you will still want to know me after I tell you what happened to me, but for now until you hear the whole story, I will be with you, so don't cry, it hurts me to see you cry for some reason." She was at first stunned that I hugged her, then a little reluctant, but then she gave in a cried herself to sleep in my arms. I was a little afraid to leave her alone, so I carried her to her bed and put a cover over here. I went downstairs and made some coffee for me then and for in the morning, I drank a cup of coffee and sat thinking, I don't know what's come over me, but I don't want to see her hurt or cry. So that's how I spent my night, watching over her from the first floor of the house, making sure nothing happened.
