When I woke up the next morning I found that Sarah was laying next to me cuddled up to me and a smile on her face, that alone was enough to make me feel better about the events of the previous day. It was funny how just the sight of her could make me feel instantly better. I still feel the sorrow and sadness of the funeral but it's not as bad because I'm not alone anymore.I feel like a huge weight has been taken off my back after some many years of carrying it around everywhere I went. I start to sit up but Sarah holds me down and whispers, half asleep, "Just a little bit longer please." I smile in response and lay back down. It's no harm for us to lay her for a little bit longer, it's not like we were going to school anyways. After another hour of laying in the bed enjoying the presence of one another I finally spoke up and said, "Alright we need to get out of bed or I'll go crazy from doing nothing." I shook her awake and as she started to sit up I could see that she was wearing one of my T-shirts. It was way too big for her and made it look like she was wearing a small dress. As I was looking at her she finally woke up fully and realized I was looking at her and asked, "Why are you looking at me?" I responded after a seconds pause, "I was just admire how cute you look in one of my shirts." After I say this she blushes and turns away saying, "Well, it's a comfy shirt I just happened to pick up to put on." I chuckle a little bit, too her surprise, "Wow I never thought I would actually hear you chuckle like that. What brought that about?" I said with a slight smile still on my face, "You did that because of the simple fact that you feel that comfy in one of my shirts, even though there not that different from your own." After a couple more of exchanged words we set off downstairs to have some breakfast. Once we got down there, there was a knock on the door. I went to open the door to find a man standing on the other side holding a briefcase. He asked, "John, I presume." I responded with, "Yes, who's asking?" He pushed his glasses back on his face and says with a somber smile, "I'm your father and mothers lawyer, I'm here to talk with you about the money your mother left you." I let out a sigh and said, "Come on in." I moved out of the door way and brought him into the kitchen and told Sarah on the ear in, "This is, I actually didn't catch your name." He said as he shook my hand, "My name is Charles, it's a pleasure to meet the both of you." "Likewise, though I would have preferred it to be under different circumstances." I said while shaking his hand. He nods and takes a seat that Sarah offers him. Clearing hid throat he says, "As I said, I'm here to discuss the funds your mother left behind for you, it's nothing to serious, just need you to read and sign the document she had me write up for the transfer." I take the paper and read it carfully, it seems my mom had left me a small fortune and that it was mine to use. I spoke up and said, "Alright I'll sign it and put it in my savings account." He stands up after I sign it and says thank you for our time, "I'm sorry for your loss, your mother was a very kind woman." With that he saw himself out of the house. Sarah asked me once the man had left, "Are you okay or do you need a moment?" I said, "I'll be fine, I expected this, just not this soon." She sighs deeply, "It did seem awfully soon. Your dad may have speed up the process since he left town." I hang my head a little and say, "That's probably right, I'm just glad that it's said and done." She hugs me from behind and says, "No need to be down, I'm right here with you, so just smile." I look up at her after she says that and the what I saw was the purest and happiest smile I believe I will ever see. I had the strong urge in my mind that I wanted to protect that smile no matter what. I got up and turned to here saying, "Sarah, I want to tell you this now, since I never actually said it in words. I love you, you have truly turned my life of torment and pain into one that I can say I'm happy to live." She smiles with a tear in her eye and says, "I love you too and I couldn't think of anyone else that would be my light in the darkness I was in before I meet you." We embraced and kissed one another stronger than any other kiss we have shared. This one was filled with the love of two lost souls who found each other in a world of darkness and learned that they could live again. With that confession to each other said plain and simple we shared another kiss before ending the night wrapped in each other's loving embrace, aware that tomorrow that we will have each other.
