I was woke up the next morning by a knock on the door and Sarah asking, "You awake in there?" I looked over at the clock, it was only 9, but I responded, "Yeah, I'm up. I'll be downstairs in a minute." I hear her walk away. I sit up on the bed and start to put my shirt on, but instead I stand up and go to the mirror, curious I turn around and look at my back in the mirror. I think to myself, "It still hasn't faded that much." I stand there for a little bit longer and then I finally get dressed and head downstairs, where I'm greeted by the smiling Sarah who already had breakfast made and on the table. I sit down at the table and say, "Man, you must get up really early. Either way thanks for making breakfast again, but I'm going to make it tomorrow." She looks surprised, "You cook?" I laugh at that and say, "Yes, I can cook, I basically lived alone when I was at my house anyways, I had to learn at some point, plus It's my job." "I guess that makes since, I never really thought about it like that. Alright then we can take turns making breakfast." While we were cleaning up after breakfast, I asked her, "So do you have any ideas on how you want to spend the day?" She looked away a little and said, "Well I was just planning on spending the day in the house with you, but do you have anywhere you would like to go?" I think about it for a second and then an idea comes to me, "How about this? We spend the day together and then when it starts to get dark outside we go to the lookout for a little bit." She smiles and says,"That sounds good to me." So it was settled and we went into the living room to watch some TV together, but quickly we didn't want to watch anything. So we turned off the TV and just sat there. As we sat on the couch side by side, she started to lean her head on my shoulder, catching me off guard, but I manged to keep my composure. She looked up at me and asked,"Hey will you tell me more about what happened to you?" I looked down at her and with a sad expression slipping on my face said, "Sure, but be warned, it's a little hard to handle." She snuggled closer to me and said, "I'll be fine, I'm here with you." I let a sad smile show on my face and I started my story. "So it was about 8 years ago now, I was just a 9 year old kid, enjoying life with my family. It was a normal day like always, mom and dad got home and my sister and me got home from school. We were sitting around the living room when it happened. 3 men and a girl broke into the house. The biggest man started barking orders at us, this wasn't a robbery. I had that feeling when I saw them. It turns out that my dad owed some money to the wrong people and hadn't paid it back yet. They tied up my mom and dad and then took me and my sister in the middle of the room. Then they did horrible things to us, to me and my sister. All the marks and scars and burns on my body, was from the torture they made us endure to show my dad that you can't run from them. By the time they were down, hours and hours had passed and me and my sister were bloody messes, then as they started to leave, taking anything valuable, one of the men decided that it wasn't enough, said they had to kill one to prove their point, well they choose me to be the one to die. I tried to run to the kitchen, but one of them slashed me deep across my back and I feel down. At that moment my sister ran at them and tried to protect me, she was stabbed in the heart, died instantly. Just as they went to kill me as well, the girl spoke up and said, "Isn't that enough." They didn't take kindly to that and started yelling at her, I couldn't hear what they said, but I saw that girl collapse on the floor in a pool of blood. After they were done with her they started to walk away, decided that they were done, but I was finished, I had lost it, I wasn't going to let them get away, but I had no way to do anything, that's when I noticed the girl had a knife sticking out of her where they stabbed her. I took that knife and I killed all three of those men. After I had finished uniting my parents, I collapsed and woke up in a hospital. You can probably tell how the rest went." I hadn't noticed it, but while I was telling my story, Sarah had wrapped herself around me to make her closer, she had tears in her eyes. I realized that I also had tears streaming done my face. She asked in a quiet voice, "Is that ghost you see at the lookout..." I move to were she is laying on top of me lengthwise on the couch and hold her to me, "Yes, she is." I had caught her by surprise, but she doesn't fight it, her grip on me tightening. She finally looks up, "How can you be so calm about it most of the time, doesn't it hurt?" I whisper in her ear, "It hurts more then I can describe, but no one cared, after a year of being called a murder by even my own father, I gave up, but it always hurts." The next words I say catch her off guard, "I don't want to go to the lookout tonight, I just want to stay with you. Can I?" She gets off the couch and says, "Yes you can." So I spent that night laying in her bed, in her room, afraid to sleep. I knew I couldn't escape the nightmares, but with her laying next to me, it made it easier to sleep. Right before I fall asleep I whisper, "Now, you understand my pain, thank you."
