Abigail's Adventure

Another Bump in the Road Part 1

The Joes are camping in the woods outside a small town in Ohio. Abigail is walking through the woods with Scarlett.

"Hey Scarlett, can I ask you a question," Abigail says.

"Sure," Scarlett says.

"Why did you help me back when Storm Shadow attacked me?" Abigail asks.

"You were hurt, and you needed help." Scarlett answers.

"I know that but isn't me being here making things more difficult for you and the others to clear your name," Abigail says.

"Not really. You're a good kid. You take direction well," Scarlett says.

"Thanks, I guess," Abigail says. 

They continue back to the campsite. After lunch, everyone packs up the gear and climbs into the coyote. Abigail buckles up and takes out her iPod. She puts the earbuds in and presses play. About ten minutes later, Scarlett taps her on the shoulder, but she doesn't move. Scarlett takes an earbud out of her right ear.

"Hey, I was listening to that," Abigail says.

"Sorry, but we're stopping for dinner in twenty minutes. Do you have any preference on where we stop?" Scarlett asks.

"Not really. As long as it tastes better than Roadblock's cooking, no offense, Roadblock." Abigail answers.

"There's a diner at the next exit," Duke says.

"Sounds good to me," Abigail says.

Abigail puts the earbud back in her ear. Duke takes the next exit and turns right at the end of the road. Duke turns into the diner and parks the coyote in front of it. Abigail turns off her iPod and puts it away. Then everyone gets out of the coyote. While they are walking in the dinner, Abigail is bringing up the rear. She looks to her left, and there is a sudden flash of blue light. Then the gemstone on her locket starts to glow. Her ears start to ring, and she gets a killer headache. She screams out in pain and drops to her knees. She rubbed her temples, hoping it would make the pain go away. Scarlett hears the screams of pain. She turns around and goes over to her.

"Abigail, are you okay?" Scarlett asks.

Abigail's ears stop ringing, and her headache suddenly goes away.

"Yes, I'm fine," she answers.

Scarlett looks at her necklace and notices that it's still glowing. She looks back at Abigail and sees her eyes are red instead of hazel. Scarlett tries to grab hold of the necklace. Abigail grabs her wrist and uses her other hand to take hold of her upper arm. Then Abigail throws Scarlett towards the coyote. The rest of the Joes turn around just in time to see Scarlett hit the side of the coyote hard. Duke and Ripcord go over to her.

"Scarlett, what happened?" Duke asks.

"Abigail, she threw me just because I tried to touch her locket."Scarlett answers.

"That doesn't sound like the Abigail we have gotten to know," Ripcord says. 

Duke helps Scarlett to her feet. Meanwhile, in Dr. Mindbender's lab, he, Baroness, and Storm shadow are watching what is unfolding with the Joes from the tiny camera on the gemstone of Abigail's locket.

"It looks like the mind control is working," Mindbender says.

"Don't flatter yourself," Baroness says.

"Yes, doctor, it looks like my brother is about to use a ninja smoke bomb to put her to sleep." Storm Shadow says.

They watch as the screen goes black.

"Well, the jokes on them. They won't be able to break the spell." Mindbender thinks to himself.

Back in the coyote, the Joes are standing around the unconscious Abigail, trying to figure out what happened.

"Does anyone have an idea why Abigail flipped out like that?" Ripcord asks.

Everyone shakes their head no. Tunnel Rat is trying to take the gems off Abigail's locket. As the tweezers touch the gem, he gets shocked by a small jolt of electricity. He falls backward, but Ripcord catches him.

"So I'm guessing we can't remove the gems without getting shocked," Duke says.

Ripcord helps Tunnel Rat to his feet. 

"How are we supposed to bring her back?" Scarlett asks.

"I don't know, Scarlett, I just don't know." Duke answers.
