Neverland Valley Ranch
Zoe's POV
I walked up to the front door cautiously. This could either go good or extremely bad, and right now I'm betting on the latter. I lifted a shaky hand to ring the doorbell but was interrupted by the sound of my cell phone ringing in my pocket. I let out a sigh of relief. Saved by the bell.
I stepped away from the door and answered the phone quickly. "Hello?"
"Hey, Mom?" Junior called.
"Yes, baby."
"Where are you right now? I need to talk to you about something."
I furrowed my eyebrows. "I'm at Neverland now.... What's wrong?"
"You're at Neverland? Is Dad there?" He asked frantically.
"No, he isn't.... You sound upset, are you okay?" I questioned.
He sighed. "Dad stopped by the studio to see me today-"
"Really?" I interrupted. "So he told you he was leaving?"
There was a short silence. "Wait, what?"
Dammit, I always give things away with my big ass mouth. I slapped my hand to my forehead.
"Mom?"
I took a deep breath. "I'm here, honey..."
"Where's Dad leaving to?" He asked.
I glanced over my shoulder to make sure no one was listening. "This is something we need to talk about in person, okay? I'm not really sure what's going on with your father, but he's worrying me."
He gasped. "That's exactly what I was calling you about! He seemed hella sketchy when he came to see me."
I raised an eyebrow. "He did? How?"
"He was like, asking if there was tape recorders, and he made me turn off the microphone. Then he told me not to forget the letters AEG. After that his new bodyguard rushed him out."
I tapped my chin with my finger. "He has a new bodyguard?"
"Yeah, his name is Bryant. The guys is a real piece of shit. He was bossing Dad around. And Dad was just letting him."
An uneasy feeling washed over me. "Where was Bill?"
"Bill wasn't with him. None of his normal people were with him. It's like he got a whole new entourage."
I ran my hands over my head, blowing out a nervous breath. I'm really starting to fear for Michael. What's going on with him? Why would he change his entourage? He's been working with the same people for years, and they're all great. None of this is making sense. I have to get to the bottom of this.
"What were the letters he told you to remember again?" I asked.
"AEG." He stated.
I racked my brain for possible solutions to the puzzle. Then something clicked. "I wonder if he meant the broadcasting company? It's called AEG Live."
"I don't know. Should I look into it?"
"No." I ordered. "Let me do all the looking. Just make sure to keep an eye out for anything strange. Come to the house tonight for dinner so I can talk to you and Hev about what's happening."
"Alright, Ma. I'm just starting to freak out, ya know?"
I sighed. "I know, baby. But it'll be fine, I promise. I'll see you tonight, alright? I love you."
