"It never really mattered too much to me. That you were just too damn old for me."

Moniece
Two days before thanksgiving...
"Hey mama" I greeted Marcel and Dawns mother as she opened the door. She looked unusual today. Her smile was forced and her body language read stressed.
"Hey love, what brings you by?" She asked letting me in. We walked towards the living room.
"I came to check on Dawn. Haven't heard from her since the day she went to go see Anthony." I was starting to get worried about my best friend.
"So she's not talking to you either? I must need to pay her a visit."
"A visit? Don't she live here?" I responded confuse.
"I didn't get to see her when she got back because I was busy with something. When I finally went to go check on her she was gone. She left a note on my bed telling me she had moved out and will stop by for thanksgiving dinner. She won't answer my calls and I don't know where she lives."
"You think Anthony snapped on her? I mean that would only explain why she is being so distant." Dawn always said she was going to move out but not that quick.
"I have a feeling that he indeed did. You know Anthony. He has a short temper and have been through so much with females. I guess this is her way of dealing with her problems." Ms. Sanders sighed.
"Hopefully things work out for the best. I think the two of them would work out."
"I believe that too but both of them have a lot of maturing to do. The age difference will already be part of their problems." Dawn is twenty-two and Anthony is twenty-eight (fight me lol). Being in a relationship with someone who is older can be hard and I know that from experience.
"That's right-"
"What's right?" Marcel walked in.
Ms. Sanders and I remained quiet. Although it was childish, he was receiving the silent treatment.
"Man look she-"
"Say it and I'm going to make sure you know what I meant when I used to tell you "I brought you in this world and I will take you out." Ms. Sanders threatened. I couldn't help but laugh.
"Whatever" Marcel mumbled walking out.
"He thought!"
"Girl that boy need to be on meds. I swear I dropped him too much when he was younger." She joked but it sounded so true.
"Mama you joking right?"
"I wish. Marc was a very active child and when he had tantrums oh he had them. I got to the point where I got tired of restraining him so I just let him fall out. That includes when he was in my arms." Ms. Sanders shook her head reminiscing.
"Letting him fall out on the floor is fine but while he in your arms? Ma that's why he crazy now."
"Not my fault he thought he was superman. He eventually learned his lesson when he hit that marble floor and got a concussion one day." She laughed.
We sat and talked for a little while longer before I left. For Dawn not to come to me right away kind of puzzled me. We would always call each other and talk about our problems.

Ant
A day before thanksgiving...
Being in jail for five years has really changed my mind frame on a lot of things. I couldn't believe I spent five years wasting my life all because of some bull I didn't do. I constantly debated if I would seek revenge or not but for now I'm just living.
"Aye brah this shit is too surreal" Marcel laughed as we made it to the barbershop.
"Man it feel too good to be out"
"Aye my man hook him up" Marc told the barber.
"Aww shit if it isn't the notorious Ant" Jewel said fixing his chair for me and starting on my cut.
"You heard from your shawty lately?" I chuckled not about to tell him that his sister is my shawty at the moment.
"Nah not since that day you visited me. It's all cool I'm gone pay her a visit though."
"Don't do that" Marc responded fast.
"Why not?" I asked but he just shook his head and became silent.
If I knew any better he knew something that I didn't and just wasn't saying it.
---
"Welcome to iHop can I take your order?" A red-bone asked me. I took a minute to answer because her breast were perfectly sitting. It's been forever since I've really been in the presence of a female. Maria don't count at all.
"Man they let ya'll broads dress like that. Put a damn shirt on. Got your cleavage just out and about. You daddy probably rolling in his grave right now. You need-"
"Marc what the hell is your problem?" I asked shocked. He never disrespected a female no matter how she carried herself. His whole motto was not to treat a female the way he wouldn't want his sister or mother treated.
The waiter just ran off to the back I guess crying. Marc shook his head and slumped in the booth.
"She need to cry. I could've sworn she had on butt pads too. Ass looked like-" He stopped talking and looked at me. "My bad brah I got a lot on my mind right now.
"Well shit get it together. You just embarrassed that girl in front of the whole restaurant." I told him trying not to laugh. It was hilarious because he acted as if she offended him by the way he spoke.
"Man if you only knew what I had going on right now." He shook his head.
"You still with that chick?" I asked forgetting her name.
"Something like that. Right now we going through a rough patch. She talking about her period late."
"Damn you about to be a father. That's crazy." I chuckled as my food was brought over by the same waitress. Her face was bright red, I guess from crying. I felt bad for her.
"Man I'm serious. She playing games though. Talking about she scared to get a pregnancy test or go to the doctor." He ignored the waitress as she walked off.
"She young what did you expect?" He shook his head and the entire time we sat in silence as I ate.
This nigga was really bugging out and I was about to put my foot up his ass.
