CHAPTER 4: AMERICAN GOTHIC

The Diner

Neither Natalie nor Katherine were idiots, but neither of them knew everything. Neither of them knew that Elena had teamed up with Rebekah, even if they knew that the youngest doppelganger would be coming for them after a while, looking for the cure so that she could get it out of the Salvatores' reach, but when Natalie was meeting Katherine at the diner, she brought a few companions, who wasn't very fond of Katherine, and one liked Natalie while the other... not so much.

Rebekah had placed herself next to Katherine because she was the only one stronger than her in the diner, as Elena placed herself next to Natalie because she got turned into a vampire sooner, which translated into being stronger. "Where's the cure?" the younger doppelganger demanded harshly.

Katherine narrowed her eyes at her. "What? No I'm here to avenge my annoying little brother speech? I know why I didn't get one from Natalie, seeing as, well, she's not very emotionally stable. Or emotional at all. But you?"

"People die. We move on." the Gilbert girl responded monotoneously, taking a sip from a cup of whatever she had ordered (may have had something to do with blood) as she kept her gaze on her exact lookalike.

Natalie hummed in amusement from her acting as if she just simply moved on, not that Natalie did any better. "You know, after you turn of your humanity switch and somehow ends up as the most dull emotionless vampire to ever have existed. Congratulations, sis."

Natalie hissed for a moment as Elena grabbed her finger and snapped it, leaving it to be healed by her amazing healing process as Katherine also commented on Elena's currently non-existent humanity. "So sad for the boys, though. Their special snowflake of human frailty... gone. Well, if we're gonna be a while, I'm gonna go grab some menus."

As she started to stand up, a fork was shoved through her hand, Katherine hissing in pain as she lowered herself back to her sitting position as Rebekah smirked as her hand was still holding the silverware down. "You're not going anywhere."

"I forgot how charming you were." the 500-year-old grunted through her teeth as she glared at the taller blonde.

"I'm surprised you remember me at all, seeing as though you were so busy wedging yourself between my brothers." the original vampire retorted with a quick smirk as the brunette kept glaring at her.

Elena rolled her eyes at the two's yapping. "Every minute you two waste with your yapping is another minute we give Stefan and Damon to find us."

"Ugh, aren't they over that yet?" Natalie groaned in annoyance at the brothers' constant need to chase Elena down, and add her on too because she knew that they annoyingly cared about her too.

"No, they're still as obsessed with us as ever." Elena responded, almost smugly as she thought about the power she still had over those two brothers.

Rebekah looked over at Katherine, her pupils dilating as she compelled the younger vampire, ignoring the sisters' talk. "Where's the cure?"

Katherine simply smirked as the blonde wasn't able to get an answer out of her. "I'm sorry, I'm on vervain," she glanced at Natalie smugly. "We both are."

Rebekah didn't seem disheartened at the statement, she was rather joyful as she smiled at the new information, finding a positive outlook on the situation. "Oh, I get to torture it out of you. Fun."

Katherine didn't have anything against torture most of the time (mostly because she usually wasn't the victim), something that Natalie was well aware of coming from past experiences. "Why do you two want it, anyway?"
