CHAPTER 25: WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING
Dr. Maxfield's Lab
Natalie tried to find something that the currently late Wes Maxfield must have left for the vampire ripper virus. He couldn't just have decided that there shouldn't be a cure. Wasn't all science people supposed to try to get cures for things like that just in case something terrible happened.
Katherine had decided to go out with a grand exit. And that grand exit had to ruin everything for them, of course. And that's what they understood when they found a needle in Elena's jacket and they came to the realization that she had been injected with the ripper virus.
But unfortunately, she found something that messed up things a bit more and made her feel more nervous and anxious than she had in a while. She could hear Maxfield talk about how the virus Katherine injected Elena with wasn't only a ripper virus, but it had traces of werewolf venom.
She jumped a bit when she heard an accented voice speak, and it wasn't the kind of accented voice she would be happy to hear (AKA the accented voice of an original). "So werewolves are real? I always thought that, was, you know, a joke."
Natalie rolled her eyes as she noticed who it was. "What the hell are you doing here, Enzo? Actually, you know what? I don't want anything to with whatever you're here for. Just leave me out of it.
"I'm here for the same reason you are.. I want this vampire-feeding virus out of our lives," he spoke. She narrowed his eyes at him saying that, because she was sure he didn't want it out just for worry for Damon and Elena.
"Aw, is it getting lonely ruining lives all by yourself? Because you can bet your ass that I won't let you drag Damon into that again. I will kill you before I let you ruin everything for him," she threatened, although he had a guess that she was more bark than bite at that point.
"Right, Damon mentioned that you have few deep-rooted anger issues," he smirked as she saw her send him an annoyed glare, because she did not have anger issues, at least she didn't know she had anger issues. "Then again, he also said you have a thing for accents."
Natalie suddenly released a breath harshly, because she was a tiny bit pissed. Who was Damon to go bring up her old thing with Kol. It was old, and done for. It had been over a year since it happened, so she was still not sure what he was doing bringing it up. "We don't need you to come here and mess everything up."
"Then you're not the least bit impressed that I have the antidote?" he asked, and she looked at him incredulously. Of all the people in the world, Enzo had to have the antidote. That was just her luck.

Natalie knew she wasn't fond of Enzo, but she was fond of the idea of saving Damon and Elena, and so she had to put up with him and all his plans and ways for him to get the antidote. But, unfortunately, it included her having to call up one of the only people she didn't feel like calling up at that moment (or every moment that had happened in the past two days).
"Hey," Stefan greeted on the phone.
"So, bad news first," Natalie hesitated before adding the rest of her answer, because she wasn't sure how to say it. "Damon and Elena haven't been injected with the same virus. The one Katherine gave to Elena had traces of werewolf venom."
"Wait... what do you mean werewolf venom? That means it's fatal." He sounded completely flabbergasted, and she didn't blame him. They knew that it would mean Elena could start dying at any moment, and they were afraid that she would get worse too quickly for them to be able to save her.
