CHAPTER 51: I'LL WED YOU IN THE GOLDEN SUMMERTIME
The Salvatore Boarding House
The wedding day of Alaric Saltzman and Josette Laughlin (or previously Parker) had quickly approached until they ended up with being there on June 23rd, getting ready. Jo, Elena, Natalie and Bonnie were preparing together. Or, most of them were going crazy about something or another.
"No, no, you listen to me!" Natalie commanded to someone she was speaking to on the phone. Being a last minute maid-of-honor was a big deal and hard to go through with and she had been doing her best to make everything go perfectly.
But while she was trying to get things to run smoothly over where the wedding actually was supposed to be, Jo was freaking out as she did not find a very important part of the wedding. "They're missing!"
Elena (who had just taken the cure against vampirism a few days before) poured a glass of champagne for herself, not completely remembering how her tolerance was as a human. "What's wrong?"
"My shoes! My gorgeous, ridiculously expensive, wear-them-once-and-then-never-again shoes. They are missing," the bride of the day exclaimed, watching as Natalie turned to look at her with wide eyes before going back to yelling at who she was talking to on the phone.
Bonnie saw the glares everyone that wasn't helping find the shoes were getting from Natalie and turned to Jo with a hopefully helpful suggestion. "Do you want me to do a locator spell?"
The former witch tilted her head in confusion, never having heard anything about locator spells being able to locate clothing items, like her super expensive shoes. "On my shoes? Is that possible?"
"I don't know, actually. Just hang on, I got to figure out how to work this stupid thing." The current witch was helplessly trying to figure out how to work a garment steamer, but only ended up accidentally pulling the hose out.
Jo stared at her with wide eyes before sighing in annoyance and spouting out sarcastic comments. "Oh, good, break it! Because my wrinkled dress will surely distract everyone from my bare feet."
"Hey, hey. Come on. Don't waste all your panic now! You still have eight hours until the ceremony," Elena tried to reassure her before turning to where they had a few non-alcoholic mimosas and held one out to her. "Non-alcoholic mimosa?"
While the doppelganger had only meant well, her distracting her from shoe-searching was only stressing her more. "One, a non-alcoholic mimosa is just an orange juice. And two, I can't drink. Somebody should drink. You should drink."
"I will drink, eventually. But, I have human tolerance now, which is cheaper but a lot less fun," she smiled, grabbing one glass for herself and one for Jo and clinking them together happily, trying to make her stop looking at the dark side of things. "Cheers."
"No, you have not been helpful. This is not good customer service. I'm going to go to your website and complain the hell out of you!" Natalie nearly yelled into the phone before hanging up, turning to the other girls with an annoyed expression. "So, Danielle's got the flu."
Once again hearing things that would only mess up her wedding unless a miracle came made Jo smiled tightly. "Huh. It sounded like you just said, Danielle has the flu, which is impossible, because Danielle is my wedding coordinator." When she saw the apologetic look on Natalie's face she sighed. "Well, how sick is she? Can she still work?"
Natalie hesitated, scratching the back of her neck awkwardly as she knew she couldn't give her future step-mother the answer she needed. "Well, that depends. How much vomit is too much vomit for a wedding?"
