Chapter 4: Memories

Eve Hallows POV

We all just stood there looking at the place where the man stood not talking. I was still trying to get my head around what he said. I have always been just Eve Hallows. No one else. I think I would have remembered if I had a family. I heard Jack groaned and flop down on one of the chairs.

"Man, I was this close last time. He should be away for at least a hundred years. Why the heck is he back?" Jack grumbled under his breath but I could hear him.

"Will anyone tell me who that was just a second ago?" I asked.

"Pitch Black. The Nightmare King. He has fear as his center." North explained.

Center? I remember bunny telling me about it but I don't know what my center is. I sighed and took that in. Tooth saw me and came over. She seemed happy about something but I couldn't tell you why. No one can explain anything that goes on in her mind.

"Eve, you wanna see my palace?" Tooth asked excited.

I could tell that she was trying to get my mind away from what happened. I easily changed from confused to hyper. I've always wanted to see her palace because of all the things I've read about it. I nodded and gave her a small hug.

We were all on our way to her palace and I could hardly sit still. I knew that we would take someting that wasn't Bunny's way so I was trying to think on how. Honestly, I was just playing follow the leader with North. Bunny looked nervous while Jack, Sandy and North looked happy.

"How are we getting to Tooth's palace again?" I asked after a while.

"By my sleigh of course!" North boomed.

I groaned, "Why would I want to ride in a rickettey, falling apart..."

I was cut off my the sight of 8 reindeer and a big, red, not falling apart sleigh. i just stood there a little shocked and amazed. Man I was wrong about the sleigh.

"Alright, one ride just to see what its like." I said as I hopped on.

I heard someone mutter something but I didn't pay much attention to it. The only one that didn't seemed to like the idea of riding in the sleigh was Bunny. He looked up at me and I just gave him a baby pouty face and sad puppy eyes. He groaned and got on the sleigh.

SKIP TO TOOTH PALACE:

Once we were all at the Palace, I got off the sleigh and ran over to a ledge to see the view. It was amazing! I could hear the Guardians talking but I just looked at the view. While I was looking at the view, what happened in back at the pole came to my mind. Pitch's words repeated in my head. Come home my darling daughter. I shook my head to get his voice out.

Something soon caught my eye over close to the horizon. I lookede and saw something black. I looked over at where the guardians where and didn't see them. I gasped and looked around. I didn't see them near me but I saw the sleigh was still here.

"North? Bunny? Tooth? Sandman? Frost?" I called but soon everything changed and I saw a small boy.

Memory:

I saw that the little boy about a year old looked a little like me with the same nose and eye shape as me. He had shaggy blond hair, bright grey eyes, and light skin like me. He was running around a backyard and smiling. He seemed familiar but I couldn't place how or where I've seen him before.

"Come on Evie!" The small boy yelled.

I was about to answer when I heard another voice. It sounded like Pitch's voice but a little kinder.

"Not now Hunter, Eve needs to help me with my work." The man said.

There was a girl there, she looked to be a little older than 10 next to the man. She almost looked like me,. She smiled up and hugged the man's leg.

"I love you daddy." She chimed.

The scene changed to a girl that looked like me but about a year younger than me sitting next to the same little boy that was older, around 9 years now. They were sitting on a bed with a book. I looked and it looked like my spell book.

"Evie, could you tell me about daddy?" Hunter asked.

The girl sighed, "Dad was a brave man but his heart was hurt, I used to help him with his work and he would love to play with you. He did everything to keep us safe but he scared mother and I both. When ha died, I started to get nightmares about him. He said that he never loved me but I knew that wasn't true. Only one thing I heard in the nightmares that was true was that he would see me again and we would be together." The girl said with a smile.

"What was his name?" Hunter yawned.

"His friends called him Pitch, Pitch Black. We have his last name." The girl smiled.

(The final memory in the First chapter. The last this she sees is her death)

I opened my eyes and saw the guardians in a fighting stance and Tooth by my side. I went to sit up when Tooth just pushed me down. I heard the same laugh from the pole. A chill went up my spine and I saw Pitch by the guardians.

"Daddy?"
