Coming from a small town, I was used to getting to know people fast. Mostly because everyone for the most part knew each other or at least knew of each other. In the big city of Los Angeles I wasn't expecting to find someone that was so open about everything. I had to admit I was a little bit afraid by this, what made Kian so open? Was he a murderer? Did he want to chop me up into little pieces?
"Ella! Hello Earth to Ella?" Kian said bringing me back to reality.
"Sorry I was just thinking," I said embarrassed as I turned away from the window and sat down on the bed next Kian. Part of me could hear my mother in the back of my mind yelling at me for sitting on a bed with a boy but there wasn't another seat and I like to think that I know how to control myself.
"I was thinking too, except I wasn't being a weirdo," Kian laughed with a sly grin. I smiled too, something about Kian was soft. He tried so hard to put off this tough guy personality. He would say things that might genuinely hurt someones feelings but he knew that with one soft grin he could make someone understand that he was only kidding. The way he would smile and all of his features and tough guy attitude would fade, but you would only notice if you were watching.
"This house is sort of incredible and sort of empty," I laughed. The house lacked a major housing component, furniture. "Don't get me wrong you guys have the important necessities but other that nothing. You can tell this is a bro pad!"
"Who needs furniture anyways?" Kian laughed giving me a slight tap on the arm. "As long as you got a bed, a fridge, and a couch. It's all good!"
"True," I laughed. "Maybe a lamp?"
"Nope! No lights ever," Kian said shaking his head.
"I'm afraid of the dark."
"I'll protect you!" Kian laughed as I made a face at possibly the cheesiest line I had ever heard. Before he jumped up pushing me over and standing in front of me like he was going to fight off lions. "Stay back!"
"Very funny," I laughed sitting up again and pushing my hair out of my face.
"I know," he said with a grin before plopping down and laying back next to me. I tried not to look at the peak of stomach that stuck out between his tee shirt and waist of his pants. Looking up to his face as he rubbed his eyes.
"Tired?" I asked before laying back next to him.
"Actually yes, but I'll sleep when I'm dead."
"No you'll be dead when you're dead."
"Very funny," he said turning his head to face me.
"I know," I said mocking him from earlier.
"I see what ya did there," he smiled. "And I don't appreciate being mocked!"
"What are ya gonna do about it?"
For a moment we stared into each others eyes and I felt as if the world stopped spinning if only for a second. I can't properly explain how it felt to look into someone's eyes and feel something as strong as what I felt in that moment. As if nothing else mattered but us. I closed my eyes for just a second to catch my breath and hoped it would bring sense to the matter.
"You're beautiful," Kian said as I opened my eyes and met his gaze again. "Not just outside but inside too. There's a difference between a pretty face and a warm heart. You have both." I swear for a second my heart stopped beating and I felt as though I might die. But quickly it beat again and I was brought back to reality knowing that this was actually happening.
"You're beautiful too," I said with a sly grin and a laugh.
"You crinkle your nose when you laugh," Kian said scooting his body closer to mine so that when I turned my head our noses touched.
"Is that a bad thing?" I said rubbing my nose slightly embarrassed.
"It's an adorable thing."
I looked down trying to avoid eye contact for a moment as the butterflies in my stomach flew into hyper speed.
"I want to know everything about you. Everything! Even the embarrassing stuff that you swore you would never tell anyone," Kian said laughing putting his hand on my arm. "There's something about you that I just can't get enough of."
I raised my hand placing it on his side as my heart pounded. I had boyfriends before but no one had ever made me feel this way. I had never wanted to spend every second with someone. I had never wanted to know everything about someone. Most certainly I had never had someone feel that way about me. "I already know everything about you," I said trying to keep a serious face.
"Oh do you?" Kian raised an eyebrow as he shifted his hand so that it was on my side as mine was his.
"Yes! You don't know this but I'm actually a stalker. I even know you use Colgate toothpaste."
"Wait what?" he said pulling away with a look of fear as I burst into laughter.
"I'm totally kidding!" I said rolling around laughing.
"I use Colgate."
"So do I!" I said pausing from laughing only long enough to spit out the words before jumping into a ball of laughter once more.
"Do you think that's funny?" Kian said sitting up. I shook my head yes, laughing again. "Do you think this is funny?" Kian said jumping on top of me tickling me until I was crying, laughing, and kicking. He flipped off of me, laying next to me so close that our skin was touching.
"I didn't think that was funny." I turned on my side facing Kian as I wiped a few stray laugh tears from my face.
"I did," Kian said turning to face me. "Can I ask you something?"
"Sure," I said smiling looking into his eyes once more.
"Can I kiss you?" he asked with a serious tone.
"I think that would be ok," I said trying to remain calm. Kian leaned over planting a kiss on my cheek and then sitting up. I stayed laid back for a moment in shock, a kiss on the cheek? That was it?
"It's a really pretty sunset," he said pointing toward the window.
"Excuse me?" I said, he was not about to change the subject.
"What?" Kian asked turning to face me.
"That's it?"
"What's it?"
"A kiss on the cheek?" I laughed sitting up, "All that build up and just a cheek kiss? Really?" Kian interrupted me, slowly putting his hand on the side of my face and pulling me into a kiss. A real kiss, his lips were warm and soft. The kiss felt as if it lasted forever and that was fine with me, though I knew it had to have only been seconds.
"Is that better?" Kian said softly as he pulled away.
I shook my head no as I went in for another kiss. As we kissed it felt like the entire universe kept moving while we were in our own world.
"Not trying to be a mood killer or anything but people are showing up and burgers are cookin' dude!" Jc yelled into the room from the doorway causing Kian and I to both jump.
"Yeah dude cool!" Kian yelled blushing. I hid my face in Kian's chest trying not to blush as much as him.
"Alright, alright!" Jc laughed.
"Just go!" Kian yelled as I started to laugh, I felt a soft kiss on the top of my head before I pulled away from him. "You're blushing."
"So are you buddy!" I laughed covering my cheeks.
"Difference is that it looks cuter on you," he said with a smile before taking my hand and leading me back out to the party.
