My heart raced as we entered the restaurant, Kian's mom and sister we already seated. I followed Kian, hand in hand as he searched for them amongst the sea of tables.

"Kian!" I heard a soft voice yell over the sound of the restaurant. Kian's head turned and pointed toward a table in the back corner. He walked quicker now that he knew where he was going and I couldn't help but feel awkward as I tried to keep up with my short stubby legs.

"Mom! Izzy!" Kian said letting go of my hand to pull each of the ladies into a hug before turning to me. "This is Ella, the girl I told you about."

"Hi," I said softly waving toward them both. I tried to remain calm but I couldn't help but feel out of place.

"Hi sweetie," his mom said before pulling me into a hug.

"Hey," Izzy said sitting back in her chair.

"Ella, we've heard a lot about you!"

"Shh, mom stop." Kian said blushing as we took our seats.

"I'm not going to lie," she said shrugging.

"Well it's not a lie if you just don't bring it up!" he laughed.

"He thinks he has to play it cool."

"Mom! Wow it has been less than five minutes and I am already regretting this!"

"Oh stop honey, it's cute." she laughed before taking a drink of her iced tea.

"We got you both Coke, that's what Kian always ends up getting," Izzy said pointing to the glasses in front of us.

"Thanks," I said taking a sip.

"So what do you guys have planned for today?" Kian said looking over the menu between us.

"The beach!" Izzy chuckled.

"Shopping," his mom said before snatching the menu from between us.

"We already ordered for everyone," she smiled. "Salad and pizza."

"Awesome," Kian smiled.

"This place does a great thin crusted pizza with fresh ingredients," his mom said as Kian stood from the table.

"I'll be right back, I left my phone in the car," he said before darting off.

"He can't be anywhere without his phone," Izzy shook her head.

"He's always been that way, the boy thinks it's his only connection to the outside world." His mom shook her head as well, "He's already in the outside world."

"I'm surprised it took his this long to realize he had left it," I laughed glancing back toward the front door as Kian exited.

"True! Normally doesn't take him this long!" Izzy laughed.

"Probably because you're here," his mom said with a grin.

"He really likes you," Izzy said looking up from her phone.

"You think so?"

"He wouldn't have brought you here if he didn't," his mom said raising her eyebrows.

"I guess you're right."

"He loves you, let's be real." Izzy rolled her eyes before going back to her phone.

"We've only known each other for days," I laughed nervously. "Love?"

"Love isn't something you choose. It just happens, without rhyme or reason. Love will happen regardless of age, gender, race, etc. Love just happens. When you know, you know."

Kian sat back at the table, kissing the top of my head on his way down. "Know what?" he asked.

"That the foods good," his mom said giving me a wink.

"Oh yeah, food is great here!" he smiled.
