"Where are we going?" I asked as Kian pulled out for the hotel's parking garage.

"Some where exciting, special, and important!" he said with a grin.

"Should I be afraid?" I said slowly. Something with that kind of build up had to be terrifying.

"No," he paused. "Well I don't think so."

"I'm trying to hide how much I'm freaking out right now but pretty soon I might explode."

"I'm taking you with me," he smiled. "I have something I have to do and I'm bringing you along."

"Like a work thing?" I asked, knowing that I had a slight impact on Kian's motivation to work the past few days.

"No, not at all actually."

"Then what?" I said impatiently.

"My mom and sister are coming up today to visit. We are supposed to grab lunch today before they head off to the beach. So I'm bringing you with me."

"Wait," I paused as my heart raced. "I'm meeting your mom?"

"And sister, well one of them."

"I'm freaking out!" I panicked covering my face with my hands to hide the red cheeks I could feel burning as they formed.

"Why?" he laughed. "It will be fun, you'll love them."

"I'm not worried about loving them, I'm worried about them loving me!"

"They'll love you."

"How are you so sure?"

"Because I love you," he paused as his eyes widened. My jaw dropped as I stared at him until his eyes returned to normal size. He opened his mouth as if to speak but quickly closed it again. He cheeks were turning a light shade of pink as he opened his mouth and closed it once more. I could see the 'oh shit' look on his face and it was exactly what I felt my face look like, so I looked away. However as soon as I did I could feel his eyes burning into my skin, he was looking at me. "I," he paused.

"It's ok," I said frantically. I didn't know what to say to make the moment feel any less awkward than it did. The thing is, that it wasn't awkward because of what he had said. It was awkward because it was said in such a comfortable and casual way. As if it was a totally normal thing to say. But that's the thing with Kian and I, every thing has always felt comfortable and normal. As if we were two peas of the same pod.

"Ok," his voice cracked as he spoke. "I'm,"

"I love you too," I spit out quickly before I could change my mind.

The car fell to silence as we both avoided eye contact. Only the sounds of LA traffic and tires on the pavement to fill the dead air.

"It's ok," Kian said breaking the silence before reaching his hand out toward me, palm side up. I placed my hand in his, comforted by the warmth and softness of his touch.
