The party was in full swing inside but I found myself sitting on the back porch. I still wasn't fully processing what had happened in the last twenty four hours.

"Ella?" Mom said stepping outside.

"Yeah?"

"The party is inside, what are you doing out here?"

"Thinking."

"About?"

"Everything!" I laughed.

"Second thoughts on leaving?"

"No!"

"Damn," she laughed. "Kidding!"

"Sure," I laughed.

"I am, I can see a difference in you. A difference from before you left and now. A difference with him and without. I'm happy for you."

"Was this the life you wanted? Marrying Dad, having this type of life, here?"

"Honestly? Yeah. It was what I wanted. To live in the same place I grew up, to be a mom and a wife."

"Truly? Exactly what you wanted?"

"Yes, hands down. Wouldn't change it."

"I believe you."

"Is LA what you really want?" she asked.

"Definitely!" I said with a smile.

"I can tell by the twinkle in your eyes."

"Everything I've always wanted and more."

"There you are!" Kian said stepping outside. "Oh shit, sorry for saying shit. Umm am I totally interrupting something?"

"You're fine," Mom laughed. "I was just heading back inside anyways."

Kian sat next to me on the porch swing as Mom headed back inside.

"You just said shit in front of my mom," I chuckled.

"I apologized!" he said covering his face with his hands.

"You're cute," I laughed.

"You too," he said putting his arm around me and cuddling me into his side.

"You and me, who would have thought."

"Yeah, I mean you literally made me walk right into you because you don't understand how walking works!"

"Maybe you don't understand how watching where you're going works!" I shot back.

"Possibly," he laughed kissing my forehead.

"Did you tell JJ and Jc that I was coming back with you?"

"Well, I didn't 100% know if you would come back with me, so no."

"Please, you knew I would."

"I hoped you would!"

"You knew."

"Maybe," he laughed. "I don't think they will care. They seemed to dig you. Plus having you around means that I have another vote in household choices so no matter what they say we have two votes!"

"You do realize that they would have two votes as well. Which means a tie."

"Shhhh, just let me live in a fantasy world where my choices always win."

"Until the first vote and that all shatters. Like what if I vote against you."

"Then I will kick you out of the bed!"

"The couch is pretty comfy," I said matter of factly.

"Smart ass."

"You love it!"

"I hate that I do," he laughed turning his body so that we were facing each other. "So I think we need to talk about something pretty important."

"Alright?"

"Ella?"

"Yeah," I said slowly.

"Will you be my girlfriend?"

"Are you kidding?" I laughed.

"Excuse me?"

"That wasn't implied all along?"

"You're really killing the moment here," Kian said seriously.

"Sorry, go again."

"Ella, will you be my girlfriend?"

"Of course I will!" I said before planting a kiss on his cheek.

"She said yes!" Kian shouted out, throwing his hands in the air. "Look at my gorgeous, gorgeous girlfriend!"

"Stop!" I laughed.

"People that head that probably think we're engaged now."

"Great, half the town thinks I had a mental breakdown and now the other half will think I'm engaged."

"Want me to yell it's a girl? We could add pregnant too."

"No!" I shouted back.

"I'm kidding!" he laughed pulling me back into a cuddle.

"This is perfect," I smiled.

"Definitely not the ordinary day you thought you would be having."

"Ok, I see what you mean about ordinary being too much, after you say it so many times."

"Can I say extraordinary? I think you're quite extraordinary."

"It depends on how many times you're going to say it," I laughed.

"Ehh, maybe eighty more times today."

"Ok, too much."

"It's a good word, like spork or aesthetic."

"What?" I laughed. "We better go back inside. I think the fresh air has gone to your head!"

"Come on my lady," he stood holding out his hand. I stood grabbing it, as he led me back inside to the party.

For the first time since I had returned home, I didn't feel alone.

For the first time in my life, I felt extraordinary.
