I know Neals apartment is supposed to be in New York so let's just pretend it a takes a few hours to drive to New York! ;)
Regina rolled out of bed and looked to the clock. Her shift starts at 2am which meant she had an hour and a half to get ready and walk to the café. She was always given the night shifts ever since she got there. She just presumed that it was because she was new. Her shift tonight was from two till nine. It was going to be one of the longest nights since she started working there. That was one of the problems with working in a 24 hour café if you're a newbie you're most likely to get the nightshift. She rolled out of bed and gingerly moved to the bathroom. She looked around towards the shower and saw the green tiles. She always would think that they looked like they were sickish colour of green, she presumed it was something that was already in the apartment when Neal got there. Otherwise what the hell was he thinking? Turning the shower on she waited for it to heat up.
Once out she brushed her teeth and began trying to sort her whispy hair. Ever since leaving Storybrooke she found it much more difficult to maintain her hair, usually she'd is a bit of magic to help her out. She grabbed a bauble from the sink and pulled her hair back into a low ponytail. Strolling over to her wardrobe she picked out her clothes for the day. One thing she had to wear for work was the company t-shirt. She'd then usually wear either jeans or a skirt and tights, today was a skirt and tights day. Pulling the horrid top over her head she began searching for her black skirt. Once dressed she looked into the longer mirror on the wall, which was also unfortunately cracked. She realised how different her dress sense was, in Storybrooke she wouldn't be caught dead in this. A scrappy old t-shirt, black skater skirt and close to ripping tights. Once she'd looked her self up and down she went back into the bathroom and applied a thin layer of make-up before re-checking the time.
1:30
She hadn't even realised she'd been getting ready for so long. She dashed around the small apartment grabbing her coat, one she'd brought with her. It was actually one of her favourites. Robin had gotten it for her, it was plain black with a long silver zip down the front with large pockets at either side. She'd only worn it once or twice since it was her good jacket, but for some reason she felt like it was a good day to wear it. She grabbed her white converse, something she had to buy whilst she was here as she found it difficult working in a cafe long hours whilst wearing stilettos. She hadn't realised, until looking at them now, how dirty they'd gotten, but, it didn't really matter as she was pretty sure the shoes were fakes anyway.
Grabbing her keys, phone and purse she shoved them all into the large coat pockets as she ran out the door, dreading another night of work. Little did she know that this would end up being we favourite day of working at the café.
"It's almost half six! Why are we leaving so early?" Emma groaned as her hangover kicked in.
"You called me a half hour ago saying to meet you here now! I don't know why you're moaning so much? It was you bloody idea!" Robin yelled at her as the sat in her bug.
"Well maybe you could drive? Just for a bit?"
"Emma I've never driven one of these! Let alone went on a journey in one." He looked out the window as she huffed and grabbed her seatbelt.
"Fine" she mumbled clicking it in, checking he'd down the same.
"So where is it she went again?"
"Um a place called New York. She's staying in an old friends place. He didn't need it anymore so let us borrow it." She mumbled as she tried to lie about the apartment. She loved Hook but still it hurt to talk about Neal sometimes. Just knowing he was gone forever still stung slightly. She'd always miss him. Her and Hook had recently discussed the topic, well more shouted about it, but eventually came to the agreement that a part of Emma, although it was a small part, would always love and miss Neal. Hook had grudgingly accepted this.
"Well let's go find her. You have the scroll right? To get us back in?"
"Yup!" She patted her pocket, the cold air that ha whipped her face and the fact she had to discuss Neal soothed her hangover somehow, however it was a slight soothing compared to the thunder and lighting feeling she was getting in her head.
"Hey there what can I getcha?" Regina questioned holding her pad up.
"Two cheeseburgers and chips please?" The man spoke with a rough English accent, making her think of Robin. God how she missed him. She'd give anything to have him here with her. But right now she had to focus on her customers. It was closing in on six and the sun would soon be rising.
"Chips? Oh you mean fries right?" She looks bewildered at him as he smiled before nodding.
"Yea sorry 'bout that. Forget you 'mericans are all different to us." He sat in front of her, his yellowing teeth showing and the stink of smoke surrounded him as his friend.
"Oi! I want a Diet Coke too! We are gonna be so flipping jet lagged I'm gonna need my energy to lug this crap up to our apartment." The woman piped up nodding to Regina to right it down. Her hair was a dark brown but looked more voluminous than naturally possible. Her skin was tanned but not in a natural way and her eyebrows looked more the rectangles a four year old drew.
(Want to point out I don't want to offend anyone! This is just a really weird stereotype I've heard so decided to go with it!)
"Okay is that all?" She looked between the two as they both nodded before returning to their previous conversation.
"How pleasant." Regina exhaled before giving the orders to the chef.
It was nearing closer and closer to nine and Regina couldn't wait as it meant her soft was almost complete, that was until her boss came towards her at 8:25 and told her she'd be working until eleven instead, she tried to argue but he threatened to fire her so she quickly quietened.
Oh if I could have a little magic right now. Her thoughts ran round as she glared at him.
It got to ten and she was in an even worse mood. Her boss was being an ass and so were her customers. She had went from kids having tantrums to greasy fat old men hitting on her. She was ready to snap. It didn't help that she wasn't paying attention to which order was for who, either. She just wished she had Robin there to hold her and soothe her anger, but even if she did tap her heels three times, every time she opened hers eyes she was still in the crappy café.
A little longer but don't worry the next one should be quite good. I know this was boring so sorry about that! See you next time!
