Time had either been dragging on for centuries or moving too fast. Regina had mastered pretty much everything, apart from when she was researching. First of all being around Belle was hard enough. After that nightmare she always felt a slight caution. Secondly, she didn't have the patience to sort through all the books. Several times Belle had watched as she slammed the book shut and moved into the next. Every time she had tried to calm her down, but she flinched away when Belle for near.
Gold had finally decided she'd had enough practise of her magic. Only when she could close her eyes and blow up a tree in the middle of the forest.
Robin had never spoken of their phone call again, which she was both glad and suspicious about. She'd hinted at it once or twice but he never seemed to understand. After a good few days of pretty much non stop archery practise she finally got a bullseye. Ever since she managed to get them perfectly, almost all of them hitting it dead centre.
Snow had been complaining to David non stop as she wanted to help. But she had to look after Neal.
"Please! I could help out at the sherif station? Or I could help her with her patience whilst she's with Belle?" She'd argued with him once.
"Okay, where will we put Neal? Daycare? Emma? Where?"
She stood and looked at him, she knew he wasn't trying to be sexist or stereotypical but he was. She knew they could trust anyone with Neal. So she was their best hope.
"Emma and I are going out later to help Regina with some stuff. You gonna be okay?"
"Yea, I think Hook is coming over so it'll be fine."
"Whys he coming over?"
"Him and Emma haven't had the chance to go in many dates lately-"
"And? What's the problem with that? I don't see there being a problem with that?" Mary-Margaret chuckled at his protective nature.
"And he wanted to help out with Neal. I think it's sweet of him." David huffed as he looks down to his son walking between their legs, something he'd recently figured out how to do.
"Why must you be the reason he comes here, son? I can't be mad at you?"
"Shut up and get going. Unless you want to run into him before you go."
"You're right."
"As usual." He leaned in and gave her a quick peck before squatting down to give his son a kiss too.
"Whatever, be good son. Love you honey." He walked out the door as she said her good byes.
"What a man he is. Isn't he Neal!" She spoke in her baby voice to him as she went and made herself some toast.
"Regina?"
David walked out to his car, the sherif car, to see Regina leaning against it. Her purple dress resting at her knees, her black boots coming up to her knees leaving very little skin showing. Her black coat only reaching her hips, her hands resting in the pockets. He watched her confused by why she was here, when she should've been with Robin. Resting before everything went down hill. Her face was hard, obviously deep in thought. He Calle she'd name once again, still getting no reaction. It wasn't until he rested his hand on her shoulder that she jumped, finally taking notice of him.
"Hey." She sighed when he looked at her.
"You okay? I called your name like three times." She stood up straight and looked at him.
"Yea, well no. I need to talk to someone an you came to mind." She spoke quietly, as if ashamed.
"Sure, yea. Eh hop in." She walked around to the passenger side.
"Where are we going?" She asked wearily.
"Somewhere we can talk."
The drive was silent. Neither speaking. Until Regina clicked where they were going.
"The town line?"
"Yea. No one is daring to venture far so it's our safest bet. Hey can you text Emma from my cell? Tell her I'll be a little late. And so will you." She reached to the back seat and looked for his cell, as that's where she kept hers in her handbag.
"Oh no, it's in my pocket." She looked down and saw the rectangular shape in his jeans pocket. Without thinking she reached down and slid her hand into his pocket, grabbing the phone. As she pulled it out she chuckle slightly, causing his gaze to fall towards her.
"What?"
"Nothing. This just reminds me of something."
"Of what?" He pulled over as she finished texting before she replied.
"Remember that time, before the curse was broken, you came to my house for dinner?"
"Yea." He spoke and suddenly realised where she was going with this.
"And I tried to seduce you to stop you going out with Mary-Margaret." She finished as they both hurled into a fit of laughter.
"I turned you down kinda like, mmmm better not!"
"God! Do you know how pissed I was!" They laughed more and more until both quietened down.
"So, what did you need to talk about?" He spoke as she sat there.
"I don't think I can do it." She murmured.
"Do what?" He leaned over and rested his hand on her shoulder. She hopped out the car and began pacing as he did this.
"What's wrong?" She paced back and forth as he neared her.
"Regina? Do what?" He neared closer to her as she didn't stop.
"Regina?"
"Stop her! I don't think I can stop her!" She shouted at him. He stood back and watched her for a second before doing what he thought was best. Striding forward he held her close as he pulled her into a hug. He hadn't realised she had begun crying until he heard her sobs. Her shoulders were shaking up and down. Arms held herself up by wrapping under his arms and clinging in his shoulders. They stood for what seemed like forever as her head rested on his shoulder. His hand resting across the back of her head, the other wrapped around her shoulders. Neither of them spoke as she straightened up and got back in the car, where they sat for several minutes as she dice her makeup. Once she'd finished he restarted the car and did a U-turn headed back for the town. Neither of them had spoken until Regina broke the silence with two very simple words, but both of them together held a very great meaning.
"Thank you."
Sooooo, important message time! Basically this fanfic is coming to an end soon. I had planned only twenty chapters but it has went on for a bit longer. Once this is completed there will be information about whether there will be a sequel! Thank you all so much for reading this!
