"Okay, sweetheart, I'll see you tomorrow after school?" Regina kissed the top of Henry's head as he walked off the front porch and I to the yellow bug at the end of the drive. She gave Emma a nod of gratitude for picking him up, then shut the door after waving them off. Once she turned around she heard fumbling upstairs and remembered she had to talk to Robin.
"Robin!" She stood with her hands on her hips as she heard a fall and a few curse words from upstairs, then his call of 'one second, Honey', but she was not in the mood for waiting.
"ROBIN!" She crossed her arms and waited for a reply, getting even more angry when he didn't reply. Next thing he knew he was in front of her as she stood with her eyebrow raised as her arms crossed over.
"I said I'd only be a moment." He stood up as he pulled the white T-Shirt over his head as the cool Autumn/Winter air nipped at his skin. Regina stood trying to suppress the grin at the fact he had been half naked when she'd poofed him down.
"What is it my love?" He moved closer to her, but she stepped backwards, he gave her a confused expression.
"Why didn't you tell me?" She said, as much as she tried not to hurt laced her voice.
"Tell you what?"
"About Henry? What happened? Why'd that nurse come up to me?" She looked into his eyes, as if looking for an explanation.
"Because it would have worried you, and there was no need. He's fine now."
"Now indicating he wasn't before." She walked passed him and moved into the kitchen where she leaned against the island.
"You want the truth?" He stood across from her leaning against the corner of where the counter tops met.
"Please."
"He'd been out with his friend Samuel one day when I got a phone call from him. I answered and it was Samuel who answered. He was frantic and in shock saying Henry had fallen off his bike. Turned out to be a minor scratch we were in and out within a couple of hours. It just seemed bigger to the lad, considering he's only 14." Robin looked at her as she took in the information.
"That's all that happened?" She asked, still unsure.
"Of course my dear, nothing more." He smiled at her as she began to move towards him.
"Okay I believe you. I'm sorry I got to worked up. It's just he's my son and if anything happened to him-"
"I know. I'd be the same for Roland."
"Where is he?" She said, suddenly alarmed.
"Wills house, remember? He picked him up at granny's earlier for the next few nights. Since he's practically his uncle." He shrugged and wrapped his arms around her shoulders, hers around his waist as they both stood content in each other's arms.
"It's getting late I'm going to bed, you coming?" She looked up into his eyes, losing the height she'd usually get from her heels.
"I'll be up in a minute. Need to phone someone then I'll be there."
"Don't be too long." She kissed his lips once more before leaving to go up the stairs. Once he heard the bedroom door close he pulled his phone out and rang Emma.
"Robin? Is everything okay?" Emma's confused voice came over the receiver as he spook quickly and quietly.
"Yea I forgot to tell Henry something, can you put him on?"
"Sure. Hey babe pause the movie."
"How'd I do that?"
"The button with the two lines."
"That one?"
"Yea."
"Bloody hell, love. Why's it so confusing?"
"That's just how it's made, go ask remote man he'll tell you. Henry, Robin wants a word."
"Thanks Mom. Hey everything okay?" Robin stood up straighter as the conversation came back to him.
"Your mother found out about your fall."
"What! How?"
"Someone told her and she asked me about it so I had to tell her."
"Why would you do this! She's gonna kill me." He sighed as the boy huffed on the other end.
"I didn't tell her everything don't worry."
"So she doesn't know that I was-"
"No she thinks you fell off you bike or something. Just if he asks about it use that story we discussed okay?"
"Alright, thanks Robin."
"No problem, lad. Goodnight."
"Night." And with that their conversation ended. Robin full of tension as he stalked up to bed, hoping his lover never found out about the 'incident' that occurred whilst she was absent.
Regina looked to the clock and saw it was almost one. Her head was resting on Robins chest as her thoughts whirled around her head. She couldn't think why he would do this. She trusted him and he betrayed her.
Why would he lie? Does he think I wouldn't know about my sons friends? Of course I know there's no Samuel! I need sleep. Maybe I'll feel better in the morning. Maybe.
"Morning Love." Regina sat up to see Robin fully dressed.
"What time is it?"
"Almost eight. I'm heading in for work, so I'll see you in a bit?" He leaned down and kissed her forehead before walking out and leaving. Regina had been informed whilst she was away Robin had gotten a job at a hardware store downtown. It was crappy pay but he didn't really care. He just did it for the fun of it. Since Roland was at daycare until five most days. Henry was at school then would usually go to a friends for a while, Robin had nothing to do. So he found himself a job. Regina was pleased for him and was pleased he was going out today as she had actually made plans. She had mayor duties to get on with. Something hadn't had the pleasure of doing in a while. Something she missed far too much. Because doing these duties gave her something. Something nothing else could give her, apart from when she was queen but that was different. This way no magic was used an no favours were given. This was its own special something. This something was something nothing and no one could comprehend the feeling of.
That something was power.
Okay so I hope you don't kill me for this but I will get better...eventually...kinda...a wee bit...
Sorry for any errors as well cause I don't proof read, no time.
Anyway please comment and vote and I'll see you next time!
Little bit at the end here to say my condolence, thoughts and prayers go out to those in Paris tonight. Please all be careful and more importantly stay safe. 🇫🇷
