"Why must you insist parking so far away?" Robin groaned as his feet began to ache.
"Robin it's New York, if you find a parking space you count yourself lucky." She replied her boots hitting against the pavements. Her headache had begun to soothe after an hour or two and she was soon back to her normal self.
"She should be working in a place called Rockys Rocking Café?" Robin read from the GPS that was in her phone.
"That's just a couple of streets from here!" Emma smiled but saw his face sulk slightly.
"How long a walk is this going to be?" He was used to doing long walks in his proper boots, but not these brown ankle ones Regina had bought for him.
"Ten minutes tops." She smiled before continuing to navigate them through the streets.
After what seemed like forever Robin finally spoke up again.
"This ten minutes feels more like ten hours!"
"Okay okay so it's maybe more a twenty to thirty minute walk. Sorry I ha to lie or else you'd moan even more! But look I can see its sign now!" She pointed to a rusty arrow sign sticking out from a grubby looking building.
"Thank God!" He smiled whilst looking towards the sky. He hadn't realised how grey it looked today.
Once the were outside the door Emma yanked at it and saw three waitresses running around tables. She made a beeline for one of the free tables and sat down, looking for Regina.
"What are we doing? Why don't we just find her and leave?" He moaned wanting to get to see her ASAP.
"Because we can't, she probably made up a great backstory so she doesn't have any family or friends left." Emma whisper shouted at Robin whilst covering his face with a menu. She looked hoping thy had a grilled cheese but seeing they didn't, she knew it would e the perfect way to catch Reginas attention. She glanced up and saw two woman with short black her buzzing around, their faces shoved into their notepads making it impossible to tell who was who. One sported a short black skater skirt and trainers, the other jeans and boots. The boots ha a slight heel to them so Emma presumed that she was Regina. Emma tried to look like she had chosen but soon realised Robin was still behind his menu.
"Hey! Put that down and look bored." She hissed and watch him drop it to the table.
Regina went around each table asking for orders.
Cheeseburgers
Milkshakes
Fries
Bacon roll
Sausage roll
Full breakfast
She wondered how people could eat such things to early. Especially things like cheeseburgers, although most of them were tourists so she presumed their body clocks were just going haywire. She saw the backs of a couple sitting bored and noticed they still had menus. Moving over she made her way towards them when a hand grabbed her wrist.
"Can we please order? We're in a hurry." The woman sat with a small child across from her, her eyes wide an frantic.
"Sure what can I getcha?" She started writing down the order as the small girl began to talk to her.
"Gina! Gina!" She tugged at her skirt to grab Reginas attention. Her eyes widened with fear as the little girl knew her name.
"Gina! Gina!" She changed as Regina bent down to meet her at eye level.
"Hey there. What's your name?" She tried to cover the worry in her voice and eyes.
"Layla." She looked right Ito Reginas eyes, however Regina felt it was more like her soul.
"Well that's a gorgeous name. I'm Lucy."
"No you Gina!" She giggled at her, Reginas face faltering, but only for a moment.
"Sorry what was that?"
"You are Gina, not Lucy. Me not like Lucy." She played with the doll in front of her as her my her grabbed Regina from her thoughts.
"Sorry her I M A G I N A R Y friend is called Gina, so now everyone is called Gina." The mother smiled softly, hoping Regina could spell, as she tried to protect her daughter.
"I see." She breathed a hefty sigh of relief as the little girl giggled.
"Your hairs pretty." Her eyes glistened as Regina stood up.
"As is yours, I'll go place your order in." She turned away before giving in the order.
"Hey Lucy can you grab table nine for me? I'm gonna take my break." Clara, the other woman who worked nights with Regina, walked away towards the door, obviously going for another cigarette. Regina turned and walked towards the couple who looked incredibly bored and more angry now that they saw Regina walking towards them.
"Crap! Look just go with it ok? We forts stay in character." Emma whispered to Robin as he nodded.
"Hey what can I getcha?" Her accent seemed familiar but Emma and Robin shrugged it off as Regina had already went outside.
"Two grilled cheeses please? And two coffees?" Emma sighed, forgetting about the no grilled cheese thing.
"Did you even look at the Emma?" Regina jutted her hip out and looked down when her eyes almost popped out her head.
"Wait what?!" Emma looked around confused. Her head whipping from the door to Regina every few seconds.
"Regina!"
"Robin!" He stood and ran round the table scooping her up into his arms. His arms were wrapped around the top of her thighs to lift her further up into the air. Her arms wrapped around his neck and shoulders whilst her feet flicked out. They both stared into each other's eyes, him looking up and her looking down. He spun her around in circles before placing her back on her feet. Once she was down he pulled her into a passionate kiss. Every word they had wanted to say to each other the past few months being said. Every time the other had shed tears over the loss of their partner being poured into it. Everything they had in them, every ounce of energy, hope and love also all being poured out and shown in this one kiss. Once they had separated they stood for a few moments drinking up each other's presence before a loud rugged booming voice pulled them back.
"LUCY! What're you doing? Get back to work or you're fired!" He gave her a stern look when she whipped her head around and gave out the first ounce of the good old Regina Mills sass she had been having to cover up for months.
"Do I look like I care? Go shove this job where the sun don't shine!" And with that she ripped her apron off, throwing it on the ground then grabbing Robin and Emma and stormed out, giving little Layla a wink on her way. Once outside Regina pulled Emma into a hug and the trio walked down the street. Emma and Robin both saying how things were at home with Henry and Roland. They had agreed not to mention what happened with Zelena until they were in the car, just in case someone overheard. After that they all walked in silence as they all headed to Emma's car.
"So how about that grilled cheese? I know a place?" She winked as they all got in the car, desperate to get Reginas stuff and get out of New York.
Hope you guys enjoyed it! Please comment and tell me what you thought! I'm not sure if I'm moving to fast or not so I'd love to know!
