It was only the third week of school, and Juvia already knew she was going to fail these classes. She had never been the brightest student. It had always taken her a while to get something, especially when it came to math. She was the absolute worst at math. The only person worst than her was Meredy.
"I don't understand any of it!" Meredy exclaimed, slamming her books down as they entered the library during their free period.
"Don't ask me for help," Juvia murmured, setting down her things and crossing her arms. "I don't understand it anymore than you do."
"Don't understand what?"
Juvia looked back and immediately a smile came to her face. There was Gray, walking toward them with his hands in his pockets. He came closer and draped an arm around her shoulders, kissing her cheek. They weren't yet official, but they acted as a couple either way.
"Our Algebra assignment," Meredy said, sitting down and crossing her own arms. "In case you haven't noticed, we're not amazing geniuses like you, Gray."
Gray chuckled and looked down at the floor, not sure how to really take the compliment. Everyone knew how smart Gray was, but he didn't really like to hear about it.
"I could help you two out, if you want," Gray said, taking his arm off of Juvia and walking closer to the table. He looked down at the assignment to see what they were doing. "This is actually pretty simple."
"Would you?" Juvia perked up.
Gray smiled, putting his arm around Juvia's waist. He then said, "Of course. I've tutored plenty of kids before." He then took a seat at the table, disconnecting himself from Juvia. He pulled the textbook out from under Meredy's head and began looking at the problems.
Juvia sat down beside him, unsure of what to do. She had watched Gray work his magic before. It always took him a while before he knew how to exactly do it or explain, considering he did all the work in his head. He was quite the gift from Heaven above with his devilish good looks and genius ability.
Juvia's eyes went directly to his face. His black hair hung in his dark eyes as he focused on the book. His chiseled features defined his perfectly tanned face, and the look of concentration on his face tied it all together. The only thing that broke Juvia out of the trance was Gray turning his head to look at her, causing her to quickly look down with pink cheeks.
"So you get it now?" He asked, raising an eyebrow in suspicion. He seemed to suspect her of something, but she realized he must've not seen her staring.
Juvia looked from the book to Gray's face several times before shaking her head. She honestly hadn't heard a thing the boy had said.
Gray shook his head with a chuckle. He then said, "Now listen close..."

The final bell of the day rang, sending Gray right out of his chair. He walked toward his locker, throwing in his things and pulling out his bag. It was empty, but he still brought it with him home.
"Gray!"
The black-haired male turned his head to see the pink-haired pyro racing toward him, a large smirk on his face. He reached Gray almost in no time, not even close to being out of breath. He held out a piece of paper, pushing it closer to Gray.
"Erza's having a party tonight!" Natsu announced, setting his hands on his hips, proud of himself for some reason.
Gray glanced down at the paper then up at Natsu, raising his eyebrow. "Little late notice, isn't it?"
Natsu shrugged before saying, "I guess. None of us knew until an hour or so ago."
