I stood in the lobby of the school waiting to see if my mom or Jake would come to pick me up. I felt someone tap my shoulder.
"Mike, do you need a ride home?" Calum asked.
I sighed. "Yeah, that'd be better than me walking home in the rain."
"Come on my mom's here already." He said pushing the door open.
------------
"Hello boys." Joy said with a smile on her face as Calum and I got into the car. "Dear, God Michael what happened to your hand?"I laughed. "Slammed my hand against the counter."
"When did you do it?" She asked looking at me in the rear view mirror.
"This morning." I said looking out the window.
"And your mother still let you go to school?" Joy said concerned.
"Yeah, she made me."
Then she pulled up to my house. "Do you want to come over to our house until your parents get home?"
I shook my head. "Maybe another day. My parents are kinda mad at me for something."
"Alright sweetie. We'll see you soon." Mrs. Hood said.
"Thanks for he ride home. See you tomorrow Cal." I said closing the door and running to my front door.
----------
"I'm home!" I yelled as I walked in. "Anyone home?""Get in here you little shit!" I heard Jake call.
"Can't I have to do homework!" I said running up to my room.
"Come here!" Jake yelled.
"No." I scoffed crossing my arms.
He began to walk up to stairs. "Come here." He said again running up the stairs after me.
I ran into my and slammed the door behind me. I lied on my bed until I heard someone throw something at my window. I sat up and walked over to my window.
Violet sat on her window sill with her legs hanging over the side. "Open up." She said motioning for me to open my window.
I opened it and smiled at her. "Hey." I said swinging my legs over the side of my window.
"What happened?" Violet said focusing on my hand.
"Fractured my wrist." I said sighing.
"How did you do it?"
"Slammed my hand on the counter."
"I heard yelling again." She said looking down.
"Get used to it. It'll happen almost every day." I said sighing.
"Why do you let him treat you that way?"
I shrugged. "My mom loves him. My sister's happy she has a dad again. But I could care less about what I think of him." I laughed. "To be completely honest my real dad was a better man than Jake will ever be."
"You shouldn't let him treat you like that."
"Oh well, I get shit like that all the time anyways."
Then I could hear yelling from downstairs. I looked back into my room and saw my door shaking since someone was banging on it.
"I'll see you later Violet." I looked down climbing back into my room and closing the window.
-----------
"Michael you cannot talk back to your father like that!" My mom yelled."First off I didn't talk back to him and second he's not my fucking father!" I screamed.
"It doesn't matter Michael!" She said. "You can't talk back to someone like that!"
"I don't care!"
"Michael, you need to stop talking back to your mother and I." Jake said.
"Get out of this conversation." I said. "This doesn't really concern you."
"Michael!" My mom yelled.
I shook my head. "Why can't I just speak my fucking mind in this house!"
"You can. Just not in the tone you have been using." Jake said.
I shook my head again. "I can't do this." I said. "I'm staying at Calum's for the night."
-----------
I placed my foot on the top of the fence that separated the driveway from the backyard to Calum's house.I then walked up to his porch and climbed the roof. I tapped on Calum's bedroom window. I saw him sitting on his bed.
"Calum, let me in." I said shaking from the cold rain hitting my skin.
He looked up. "Michael, what the fuck." He said opening the window.
"I couldn't stay there anymore." I said shaking.
"Get in here." He said.
I swung my legs over the window sill and placed my feet on the ground.
"You know there's this thing called a front door, right?" Calum said sarcastically.
"Fuck off." I said sitting on the edge of his bed.
"What happened anyways?" Calum asked grabbing me some of his dry clothes.
"Fighting again." I said.
"Here." He said throwing me the clothes. "Get changed."
I nodded. "Thanks Cal."
--------
I stood there staring at myself in the mirror in the bathroom off Calum's room. I slipped on the shirt he gave me.I then pulled out my phone to see missed calls and unanswered texts. I shook my head and ignored all of them.
They don't matter anymore.
Note: I feel bad for Michael right now with his family and all that shit.
Is this too fast paced? If it is I'm going to slow it down just a little bit.
I hope you're enjoying this story as much as I am.
All the love- H
