Caden's POV
Killing intent was flowing off of Faith in waves - her murderous aura focused solely on Lizben.
She wants to kill Lizben. The thought hit me like a shot to the stomach.
She's actually going to kill Lizben. My heart rate picked up as my breathing quickened, my mind losing focus on the prospect of losing the only person close to me.
I panicked.
Don't touch her! I roared through Mind Link, directing my fury solely on Faith - trying to warn her away from taking that dreaded step towards my anticipated horror. Don't you DARE touch Lizben!
She turned her head up to face me, and even though their was a palpable distance between our bodies, her soul seemed to be at one with mine.
Why do I feel this way, when I see her? I asked Bane, distraught as an unfamiliar emotion aggravated the need to touch her - but he gave no answer, leaving me drive myself crazy in confusion.
I have to make her pay for what she has done. She stated with such finality, such evident pain behind her words, that it chipped my stone heart to understand what was to happen next with my most cherished...
There is no mercy for the traitors in my pack, her face twisted in disgust, as if she was inspecting a piece of trash from behind her lidded eyes - without a doubt, that look was targeted at me - as if me being able to Mind Link her repulsed the woman to no end. For some reason, her behaviour angered Bane - and, admittedly, it really ticked me off.
And you should understand full-well the reason why, no? She added, her brow arched up as her face morphed to don her poker face.
Faster than I thought physically possible for a woman as damaged as her, she pulled a dagger out of her back pocket - the same one she had used to cut rope with, just moments before.
It sliced effortlessly through the air and planted itself deeply into the hand which had constructed like a boa over the Hybrid kids neck.
Facing me, with her eyes closed but her face mockingly sporting a faux sweet smile, she silently dared me to argue - her posture rigid with awareness as she waited for me to try and stop what she was about to do next.
How could she be so sure that I'd fight for Lizben? Then it dawned on me. Unless she already knew who, and what, Lizben is to me... But how?
She still had her eyes closed, but I have a feeling that she had a tendency of revealing her soundless orbs to her prey - much like how I'm sure she had done before. Maybe that was her "thing". Maybe she only showed her eyes to those whom she had sealed the fate of - to die by her hands. I think it's her form of provocation - a form of teasing her prey with fear before successfully executing their strained demise.
She ran with such agility, I barely heard her feet touch ground - stopping just in front of Lizben, eye to eye, her hand over the handle of the protruding weapon.
"How many times do have to warn filth like you, before you understand?" She asked calmly.
She twisted the knife still imbedded her wrist, making Lizben howl in blinding agony. As Faith pulled the poisoned dagger out of the now gaping wound, she used her free hand to latch onto Lizbens pixie cut hair - holding tight enough to cause Liz to momentarily loosen her hold on the Hybrid pup.
