Chapter 16: Escape Plan

"That really was a show!", Dr. Raven said proudly, "Although, I did get pretty worried when you didn't get up from Megaboy's back panel right away... and when his eyes started flashing red, which meant his self-destruct sequence had activated." "Yeah, about that... I accidentally cut the wrong wire, but the red flashing lights helped me find the golden one, so I probably would still be in there without them.", Camon explained. "I'm just glad you're safe now and not... dead. I really should've waited to send you into the field. You've had no proper training. That's okay though, because I have a laboratory that's actually a training ground. You can work on those weird techniques I saw you doing down there, like the sneaking around in the street. I guess being dexterous is really key." Dr. Raven said. "I'm hungry.", Camon groaned. "Yeah, and I'm Dr. Raven!", Dr. Raven said jokingly. Camon stared at him, clearly not amused. "Okay that was bad, I'll get you some food." Dr. Raven said. They took a vine hand up to the kitchen. "By the way, your father watched you defeat Megaboy. He was VERY happy about it. He had actually picked something up and slammed it on the ground. I tried not to laugh, but I let out a little snicker. I got a look, but he didn't seem to upset about it. Too busy being mad that a major wrench had been thrown into his plan. I'm glad you put the bandana back on before you stood up from being... knocked out. I made sure you would hide your identity with it, and he didn't notice it was you.", Dr. Raven explained. The vine hand dropped them off and Dr. Raven walked to the refrigerator and grabbed a jar. He popped the lid and spilled some purple fruit into a bowl. Then he grabbed two spoons out of a drawer. The drawer had only spoons in it for some reason. Dr. Raven walked over and sat at the table with the fruit. Camon followed him slowly and suspiciously, wondering what in the world Dr. Raven was feeding him. "This is Ghlopp, a jam made from the Ghulppa fruit. Ghulppa inhabits few Terran planets but nearly all Hallowed planets have them.", Dr. Raven stated, unbuttoning his jacket. He pulled out a book from under it and gave it to him. Camon read the cover, Journal 179. He couldn't believe Dr. Raven himself to was lending one of his journals. "That book is all about planet types. There is many kinds of planets, Hallowed, Chaotic, Taken, Gassed, and the most abundant, Terran. Its not a very big journal but it has some need-to-know information in it. Since you're not in school, I'll have to teach you out of my journals.", Dr. Raven said. Camon noticed a beeping sound after Dr. Raven had stopped talking. "Strange, why am I getting an urgent message," Dr. Raven said, standing up and walking towards the vine hand. Camon assumed he had heard it too. Dr. Raven came to the vine hand and rode down to a lab. Dr. Raven ran to a telephone and picked it up. He held it up to his face. "Hey there... uh... are you just going to leave Megaboy on Overworld or are you going to let them burn him?", Savant said on the other line. Dr. Raven hung up and prepared to get back onto the vine hand. The phone began ringing again. He turned and picked it up again. This time the call was staticky and hard to hear. "pshhhhhh.... need... pshhhhh... out of.... b.nker. ...pshhhh... pl..s. send... h.lp.", Dr. Raven heard from the other end. He clicked down the phone and went to the tracking station. He began tracing where the call came from. After a few speed bumps he found that the call came from somewhere... unknown... on the Cult. Dr. Raven was very fond of the ship, and knew that there was only one place that would have poor phone service... the abyss bunker. Dr. Raven ran to the vine hand and called for Camon. Camon came to the kitchen balcony and waited for the vine hand to come pick him up as well. Dr. Raven said, "We're going to the crane lab, we have a mess to clean." They stopped at a very technical balcony, and hopped off. Dr. Raven ran to a large machine that looked liked the back of a crane. Camon watched closely as he flicked on a bunch of silver switches, revving up the dormant beast. "I've got a plan Camon, we need to use parts from Megaboy to build ships for the citizens of Zion to escape from the abyss bunkers. I need you to operate this crane here, and I'll be making blueprints for small escape pods in the construction lab.", Dr. Raven explained. Dr. Raven hopped out of the machine and ran to the vine hand. Camon took his place behind the levers of the crane and grabbed on. He looked around the surface of the planet, but he couldn't see the city, or Megaboy, anywhere. Finally, the ship began to accelerate, and the city, devoured in smoke, appeared on the horizon. Camon noticed the ship was getting faster, and the city was nearing closer. Camon heard the revving of an engine somewhere, and realized the ship was trying to take off. Camon used the lever and realized that it worked like a joystick. The other lever you had to pull to drop the claw of the crane, which currently had a very large magnet on it. He pulled the deployment lever, and down the magnet swung, nearly crashing into the first building of the city. Camon saw Megaboy coming close. Just as the ship went into hyperdrive, the gigantic hunk of broken metal tore from the surface and crashed into the magnet. Then, everything flattened into lines for a brief moment. Camon got dizzy and everything went black. Meanwhile, Dr. Raven was finishing the first escape pod blueprint. He picked it up and carried it to the vine hand. He rode it down to the crane room to see Camon lying on the floor just outside the control bay. Dr. Raven rushed to him and discovered that he had only fainted. The vine hand came and grabbed Camon, carrying him to the furniture lab. Dr. Raven went back down to work on more blueprints after checking the magnet. Sure enough, Camon had managed to collect Megaboy at the last second. Dr. Raven smiled and turned to walk back to the construction lab.
