Once I stepped outside I realized how chilly it had become. Mentally I cursed myself for not bringing a shawl or a sweatshirt along with me for warmth. Couples were cuddling with each other for warmth and I wished I was out with them with Seamus. Then I felt guilt but ignored it as I walked on to see Draco standing not far from I was.
He was talking with Pansy. By the looks of it, it wasn't going so well. Pansy huffed and stalked away, giving me a dirty look at she passed me. "So ugly you couldn't keep Seamus's attention, Emma? Is that why you're out here all alone?" She taunted.
"Hmmm...what about you and Draco, eh?" I replied, keeping sarcasm and anger from my voice. Or trying to. Pansy's look of disgust turned to one of despair and she started off again, not even bothering to reply. Victory for me I guess.
Draco came over to where I was. "Let's go somewhere more private." I nodded and let him lead me to a secure and secluded area outside of the castle. We didn't have to worry about people spotting us while we were walking; the couples were too wrapped up with each other. Which was a good thing.
"So..." I prompted him, Draco looked bashful, nervous and something else I couldn't detect. Whatever he wanted to tell me, it wasn't too bad was it? Biting my lip, I watched him as he attempted to find the right words to say.
"Promise not to tell anyone? This means not even Seamus or your brother." Draco whispered urgently. Nodding, I twirled a piece of my hair. I had a bad feeling about this judging by the way that Draco was acting.
"Okay...I had no choice in the matter. I can't keep it to myself and...well...I just had to tell you so I wouldn't feel guilty anymore." Draco rolled up his sleeve and showed me his arm.
It hit me once I realized what arm it was. It was the Dark Mark. Voldemort's mark. He's a death eater. Harry's accusations were right. Tears swelled and I trembled but I know Draco wasn't really evil. Why had this happened to him? He should have a choice.
"That's not all, Emma, but you aren't looking so well. Here-"
"Please don't!" I said. "I-I..." I stopped. Apparently I said it louder than I thought because I heard footsteps. A person coming and fast by the sound of it.
"I'm sorry." I whispered to Draco. It was too late; we would be found. Swerving around I saw Seamus. How much had he heard? Had he saw us together? Was he mad at me? At Draco? Seamus has his wand out and pointed at Draco.
I didn't realize Draco hadn't had time to pull his sleeve up until I heard Seamus say, "You really are a traitor and a murderer. You're a Death Eater. You're as bad as the others. Step away from Emma! I came out here to look for her and I saw you here with her; it looked like you were bugging her, which you were. She even screamed so-"
"Shut up! You don't me or my life! Don't-"
"Oh so you could judge others and make other people's life a bloody living hell but we can't even return the favor?" Seamus yelled and I could see the anger flashing.
"Stop!" It was of no use. Neither listened to me. I was forgotten as Draco pulled out his own wand. This could only mean...They couldn't...
"If you haven't realized I haven't this year. I suspect now you know why!" Draco retorted.
"Yeah, you've been too busy sucking up to the Dark Lord! You and you bloody family! And how about the others, Blaise, Crabbe and Goyle? Have they been initiated as Death Eaters as well? Are they working with you to plot something?"
"That's enough!" Draco yelled. "Stupef-"
"Expelliarmus!" Seamus yelled before Draco could finish his spell. Draco was disarmed for a moment but once he picked up his wand, it was aimed at Seamus once again.
"Levicor-"
"Impedi-"
"What's this I hear? Students out of bed, eh?" A familiar voice announced, sending a sinking feeling to my stomach. Filch. Seamus, Draco and I looked at each other in worry, waiting for one another to tell on the other one. Though neither did.
Seamus took my hand and took me away to the bushes. Draco got caught. Good thing he was able to cover up his arm but he still had his wand out.
"Hoping you could curse me or put a spell on me?" Filch smirked. "I'll be taking this," he says, confiscating his wand, "until you serve your detention. I'll be taking you up to the headmaster to judge on what that detention or detentions you will have."
Seamus turned to me once Draco was taken away. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah...Don't worry. He didn't hurt me..He act-"
"He's been acting weird...Now we know why..."
"Will you tell?"
"Possibly but I am not sure...They might not believe me."
I sighed a sigh of relief and smiled at Seamus, kissing him once more. The comfort of his voice made me happy.
"Emma, you're shivering...Here." He gave me his sweatshirt.
"Are you sure?"
He nodded. "Yeah. I think it will look better on you anyway." He winked and I giggled; glad that the drama that happened earlier was done for now. Draco and I will have to continue talking later once he is done serving detention...But why did he allow himself to get caught?
Seamus caught me spacing out and decided that we should head back. He and I were careful not to let Peeves catch us. The Fat Lady gave us a suspicious look as we entered the common room but didn't say anything. She had probably saw a lot of people enter together as couples tonight.
"Goodnight, Emma." Seamus whispered. "Goodnight."
