Tick, Tock. Tick, Tock. Tick, tock. The sound of the clock filled the room. Everybody was watching, waiting for the bell to ring. Every students’ eyes were on it. Even the teacher was looking back and forth between the students and his watch as if he had plans for summer vacation as well as the rest of us. The students scooted even further off their seats. So far off, they could practically fall out of their desks. Tick-Tock. Tick-Tock. Tick-Tock.......
Ring! Everybody made a mad dash to the door. Pushing, shoving, and practically trampolining over others to get out of this place. Me? Did I run out of the school like mothers at a Black Friday Sale? No. But I ran out of there like there wasn’t going to be another tomorrow though. I had just as much of a reason to run out of the school. Why? Are you kidding? Because of Summer Vacation. Well, that, and band camp in the summer as well. But, anyway you put it, it’s summer, freakin’ vacation.
Nowhere in the history of things being worth celebration beats being off for school, especially if it’s summer vacation. This is one of those times where you’re not only rejoicing, you’re gonna be dancing for joy or throwing a major party, or something to that extent. For me, I really don’t have a clue what I’m going to do. I wanna try to do something really memorable because it’s the last summer vacation before I head to college. I’ve got to do something. My parents had invited me along for a two week long vacation to Minnesota because they really want to find out what’s so cool about this state that has had many of their High School friends wanting to move there. Honestly Minnesota does not interest me. My younger brother, Jase, will probably go so that means the whole house to myself and my older brother, Kyle.
Kyle is already back from his first year at college, he got a job at a local ice cream place. So, free ice cream, score! Hopefully he will not throw a huge party and trash the house and make me clean up. Boy wouldn’t that really suck. Yet again, it wouldn’t be the first time that I’ve had to clean up after him.
Tonight, I’m heading over to Carson’s for a James Bond movie marathon. It will just be Carson, Andrew, Austin, and I. No girls. Well, all, but Andrew’s girlfriend. Sandra is Andrew’s girlfriend but she is super cool and like one of the guys. Now Austin’s girlfriend, however, won’t be caught fifty miles from a James Bond movie. She is super annoying, extremely clingy and doesn’t leave his sight. Poor Austin will probably be leaving early to hang out with her. Anyways, that’s what I’m planning to do tonight.
I walked over to the student parking lot when I heard a voice yell out, “Hey John!” I turned around to see who it was.
As soon as I turned around, I saw the person only for a brief second when, Wham! We collide into each other. The next thing I know, I’m laying on the really uncomfortable gravel field. I look up at the person who is now on top of me, little pissed, if I may say, and determined to try to settle things fairly kindly and smoothly.
“Alright. I know It’s the last day of school and all, but can we not start this crap right now. As much as you find it funny, I....” I looked at the face of this person. It’s Jamie Kemper. She’s probably the most attractive girl in my grade, as most people I hear say.
Crap! Why did you have to speak before you found out who it was? She looked at me with a very sorrowful look on her face. “I’m so so sorry about that,” trying to make up for what I did. “I thought that you were someone else for a moment.”
She gave me a small smile and said, “Don’t worry about it, I’m fine, have a good summer John.”
I didn’t even know she knew my name! I watched as she headed over to her friends car and hopped in to leave.
“Dude! It’s already summer vacation and you’re hitting on Jamie? Respect!” Carson said as he came to help me pick up my backpack that fell off of me, holding up a high five.
