Chapter XVIII: Hanji's Shipping

Previously: Erwin has already given evidence that he has a crush on Armin and vice versa. Hanji is determined to see her ship sail with the assistance of another.

Like Levi and I predicted, we both got roped into helping Hanji with her shipping of Armin and Erwin. I'm not sure how I feel about my best friend dating since he hasn't seriously dated anyone before. Also, even though he came out as bi he has never actually dated a guy. Not that I don't think Erwin is a good guy, I'm just concerned for my friend. Regardless of that, I was taking the opportunity to tease Armin back.

Eren: So you and Erwin...

Armin: Oh be quiet

Eren: What? You can't expect me not to take advantage of this rare opportunity

Armin: You're a terrible friend

Eren: You know you love me

Armin: I'm seriously reconsidering that

Eren: Rude! For the record having a crush just makes u mean

Armin: I don't have have a crush!

Eren: Sure

Armin: Says the king of self-denial

Eren: See! Mean Armin has sass. Anyway that means I should know that you're in denial

Armin: U do realize what u just admitted to

Eren: Stop changing the subject, u have a crush and your crush likes u back that's like the best possible situation

Armin: U don't know that for sure

Eren: I'm dating his best friend!

Armin: I know I know

According to Hanji, Erwin is already planning on asking Armin out, he just hasn't had the courage to yet. So she has asked Levi and I to help create an opportunity for him to do so. After we explained to her that kidnapping is illegal we managed to come up with a decent plan.

Levi, Erwin and I are already at Erwin's. We are waiting for Hanji to come with Armin with the pretense that it is just a get together. Erwin is pacing up and down the living room.

"Sit down eyebrows it's not that big of a deal," Levi says, fed up with his friends nervousness.

"Speak for yourself, you guys didn't plan to confess to each other," Erwin says putting his hand to his forehead.

"You guys have both made it obvious you like each other and Armin isn't going to hate you, in fact I'm 99.9% sure he likes you." I say.

"Thank you Eren, but I don't think that's going to stop me from being nervous," Erwin responds.

We hear the door open and Hanji announces her self loudly.

"I brought the coconut, let's get this party started!" She says.

"I'm not a coconut," Armin says under his breath.

Hanji ignores him starts ranting with everyone and I occasionally see Armin and Erwin make eye contact and awkwardly look away. About thirty minutes later, Hanji jumps up.

"I'm going to the bathroom!" She announces, loudly.

"That was unnecessary four-eyes," Levi glares at her.

She just grins at him and runs off. Levi turns to me and sighs.

"Let's go get some soda from the garage," he says reluctantly following the plan.

I nod and get up to leave. Before leaving the room I wink at Armin as he gives me a look of terror. Erwin isn't even looking at him, I hope he can get it together. Levi and I go into the garage and hang out there for a couple minutes.

"Do you think he'll be able to do it?" I ask.

Levi shrugs. "Despite anything, Erwin is good at following through."

"Erwin did have a point though."

"What do you mean?"

"We were lucky that you kissed me when you did, I probably wouldn't have had the guts to ask you out otherwise."

"Probably."

"Hey!" I put my arms around his waist. "That's mean."

He gives me a small smirk. I lean down and kiss him lovingly. Then we hear a click behind us. Hanji is standing they're taking a picture of us on her phone.

"Hanji," Levi says angrily.

"Shhh," she shushes grinning.

"We should probably go back so it's not too suspicious," I say.

"The blonde shota is smart, he knows what's going on," Levi says grabbing a couple cans of pop.

"Yeah, probably," I say helping him.

We go back and Armin and Erwin are still sitting where they were but both of them are blushing. The three of us act like we see nothing and we go back to chatting. We eventually play a board game and watch a movie. After saying goodbye to Levi and everyone else I take Armin home.

"So, how'd it go?" I ask while driving.

"W-what do mean," he asks nervously.

"With you and Erwin, duh."

"Nothing happened."

"You can't lie to me, come on tell me!"

He shifts nervously in his seat. "He asked me out."

"Really?!" I say nearly running us off the road.

"Yes, yes calm down, don't get us killed," he says panicked.

"This is great! Did you accept?"

"Yeah."

"I'm happy for you man," I say grinning at him.

He gives a small smile and looks out the window. Later that night I get a text saying,

Hanji: The ship has sailed my friends, the ship has sailed!
