"Shut up Melanie!" This was Jordan's voice. I looked at Melanie and she had a shocked face.
"But why Jordan?" Melanie was speaking like a baby all over again.
"You should know why... You ripped up Kate's artwork just to win."
There was a chorus of gasps after this.
"Umm... No... I didn't do anything like that!"
"I'm pretty sure everyone says that to stay away from trouble Melanie..."
Melanie laughed. "Well then let's see who's side these year sevens will go on!"
"Okay then! Who votes that I am right?" Jordan asked.
Pretty much the whole grade put their hands up all except the Mel gang. Which is pretty big...Anyway to make a long story short, Jordan won thanks to all his admirers. His final sentence was:
"Melanie, life's not always perfect and the way you want it to be. Also the way you ripped up Kate's artwork was wrong. You probably did that because you were a coward and you were to scared to lose."There was a chorus of laughter from the crowd and Melanie looked like she was going to burst. However the principle had heard all this and disqualified Melanie from the competition. As soon as Mr Wayne had said that, Melanie burst into tears. I nearly felt sorry for her. Nearly
But this also meant that all the contestants got to move a level up. There was a new replacement for third place and Jordan and I became first. I gave the lawyer job to him and he thanked me. I made him promise to use it for his family. He promised but instead of him using it he decided to give it to his dad.
Jordan looked so happy that he gave me a hug. There were whoops from the crowd but most of them were from his friends and my friends. The girls stared jealously at me. One of Jordan's friend-Harry, shouted "Do it!" I wondered what that meant and soon enough the whole crowd of year sevens started chanting the same thing.
"Do it! Do it! Do it!"
Eventually the year eights, nines and tens joined in then the seniors. Jordan gave in and held my hands. His hands were warm but slightly trembling. He looked at me in the eyes and said, "Kate... I have been wanting to ask you this for months. Ever since the start of term two. Now it's term four and I think it is time to let it out..."
There was a pause of eerie silence. "Will you go out with me?" Jordan asked? The crowd was silent as if waiting for news from war. I let out a shaky breath and answered, "Well I'm not sure if you're looking at the right girl..." Everyone groans as if showing me their disappointment. But I went on. "However, if I really am the girl you are thinking of... Then yes."
Everyone cheered and Jordan beamed with joy. He gave me a huge hug and didn't let go. Finally after what seemed like hours he let go and looked at me in the eyes. "Thank you so much Kate. You already nave made my life much more better."
I didn't say anything. I just smiled. Out there somewhere I heard an angry shout and someone bursting into tears. I suspected it as Melanie. I looked around and it was. There she was sitting there crying waterfalls of teardrops as teachers gave a handfuls of tissues that she rejected and threw into the air.
But I didn't care. Melanie couldn't make my life any bad now.
