Selena and Taylor headed over to the bar to order a few drinks. They walked back to their stools, drinks in hand. Taylor set her drink down, turning to look at her friend. "Alright you. Start talking."

Selena looked over at her friend, raising an eyebrow at her friend's tone. Taylor's face softened, showing concern for her friend. Selena sighed before speaking. "It's fine. I'm okay. Everything's fine."

Taylor simply stared at her friend, knowing everything was not fine. She pulled her seat a little closer to her friend, giving the shorter girl another chance to speak. Selena simply kept her gaze down, not looking at anything.

When Selena said nothing more, Taylor knew something was wrong. "Hey. What's going on?" She questioned softly, very concerned for her friend. "It's just me. I've known you long enough to be able to tell when something's up. Talk to me, please."

"It's just... I really. God. I don't know. It seems so stupid. I just-" Selena stuttered.

Taylor leaned over, wrapping her friend up in a tight hug; rubbing a hand up and down her friend's back. "Talk to me babe."

Selena let out a shaky sigh, having trouble finding the words. "I just, I really wanted him to be here tonight. I wanted him to meet everyone. And when I found out you were coming too, it was perfect. He would get the chance to meet my closest friends. I really wanted him to meet you. I can't really be serious about a guy without my best friend's approval." Selena managed to let out a laugh.

Taylor smiled, releasing her friend from the hug. She held Selena's hands, urging her friend to continue.

Letting out a sniffle, Selena continued. "He knew this was important to me. I told him how much this meant to me, and he couldn't do it. I have met all his friends, I go out where he wants all the time. I went to his event tonight because he asked me to and I knew it was important to him. But he refuses to leave his group of friends to come meet the people that he knows are the most important to me."

Taylor squeezed her friend's hand, knowing there was more to come.

"I just, I don't know what that means. I'm so mad right now. I know his event was work related and this was just a night out with friends, but he knew how important this was to me. He's never met any of my friends. And he couldn't even bring himself to do this for me. I know I shouldn't be mad, but I can't help it. What does that say about me? That I get mad he won't leave work to meet my friends? Does that make me a horrible person?"

Taylor let out a smile and wrapped her friend in another hug. "No. You're not a horrible person. You just wanted him to meet people you care about. That doesn't make you a bad person. This was important for you, and he should be here if it means that much to you. But we all know how the industry is. Sometimes you just can't pull yourself away, no matter how much you want to. I'm sure if he could get away, he would come here with you."

Pulling away and wiping her eyes, Selena let out a small laugh. "God. I can't believe you're actually defending him."

Taylor laughed, realizing that she never likes Selena's boyfriend's and has always been harsh on them in the past, yet here she was defending one she didn't even know. "I wouldn't go that far. He might have had work, but he knew this was important to you. And obviously, he still made you cry, so for now, I'm not sure how to feel about him."

Hearing her friend's dry humor return, Selena smiled. She reached forward and wrapped her arms around Taylor. "Thank you. I really don't know what I would do without you." Taylor returned the embrace, hugging her friend a little closer before separating.
