Taylor was up in her music room, writing and humming out the last bit of the song she couldn't get out of her head. More words came pouring out of her, fitting perfectly with the chords she was strumming. The song was coming together faster than she would have imagined. She smiled to herself, proud of her work, and also maybe it had something to do with the subject of the song.
Before she knew it, Taylor heard the knock on her door. Closing the door behind her, she left her music room and headed downstairs, bracing herself for her talk with Lily. She opened the door, letting her friend into the apartment. They exchanged a quick hug, Lily looking intently at Taylor as she pulled back. She held the side of her arms, analyzing her friend to see if she was okay.
Taylor stood there silently; she wasn't sure what Lily was doing. "Umm, what are you doing Lil?" She awkwardly questioned. Lily stared at her for another minute, her brown eyes staring hard into Taylor's. "Is everything okay with you?" She asked.
"Yea. I'm fine. I just, there's something I wanted to talk to you about, and you're really the only person I know that I can talk to because you actually have some idea as to what's going on and you're always open minded and unbiased and I just needed someone I knew I could trust to talk to." Taylor rambled quickly, slightly out of breath. "Taylor, slow down. What is it? What's going on babe?" Lily asks, seriously concerned for her friend.
"Okay. Um, I uh. I wanted to talk to you." Taylor draws out slowly. "About..." Lily says, wondering where this is going. Taylor sighed heavily. "Last night." She says quietly. "Ok." Lily furrowed her eyebrows. "What about it?"
Taylor says nothing for a moment, trying to gather her thoughts. "Why don't we go to the kitchen. Do you want something to drink?" Taylor asks over her shoulder, already heading into the kitchen. Lily hesitated a moment before following behind her. "Um, sure. Water is fine."
Taylor grabs a bottle from the fridge and Lily sits down on a stool at the island counter, watching Taylor intensely. She noticed a jacket sitting on the back of one of the chairs. 'Is someone else here? Oh my god. Did Taylor spend the night with someone? What about Karlie?'
Lily let her thoughts wander for a moment then looked back at the jacket, something about it seeming familiar. 'I feel like I've seen that jacket before. Please tell me she didn't get back with one of her exes.' Suddenly, it dawned on Lily. She knew whose jacket that was. She covered her mouth as she gasped in surprise.
'That's Karlie's jacket. She wears that jacket all the time, and she was wearing it when we left the club because I remember her putting her hands in her pockets. Now that I think about it, when I dropped her off last night, she wasn't wearing it.' Lily smiled inwardly at her revelation.
"Taylor." Lily says slowly. Taylor turned around to look at her friend. "Yea Lil?" Taylor just stared at Lily, completely confused what was going on. "Whose jacket is that?" Lily asks, nodding towards the one hanging over the back of the chair by the table. Taylor looks at it quickly and blushes; her eyes immediately looking down.
Lily observed her friend in silence, watching Taylor fiddle with her fingers and avoid looking at her. She didn't even say Karlie's name and Taylor was still blushing profusely. Lily reached her hand out, placing it over Taylor's and giving it a small squeeze.
Taylor brought her eyes up to meet Lily's; unable to hide her smile. Lily shook her head quickly, refocusing on what Taylor was talking about. "Right. Never mind." So, you wanted to talk to me about something?"
"Yea, about that." Taylor says quietly, dragging her finger across the counter, tracing shapes. "I um, I'm not really sure where to start with this. But I feel like you're the only one I can talk to."
