It felt like in that moment, holding each other's hand, there was an unspoken promise between the two. At least for the moment, or as long as they held hands, they wouldn't have to be alone.
Karlie smiled to herself as she thought about the girl whose hand she was holding. 'Your hand fits perfectly in mine; it's like it was made for me.' It was such a strange feeling. Holding Taylor's hand in her own, Karlie couldn't help but notice the light squeezes she felt every so often.
Holding Karlie's hand was something that felt so natural to Taylor. Her hand fit perfectly in hers and the warmth and comfort she felt was something she never wanted to let go of. She found herself lightly squeezing Karlie's hand every now and then, reassuring herself this was real and feeling the safety of the girl's touch. 'Sometimes, it's the simplest things that make the biggest difference.'
Karlie led them over to an empty pool table, pulling up a seat for Taylor; she motioned for the girl to sit. She then reached under the table to pull out a rack and started placing the pool balls in the triangle.
Taylor watched as Karlie meticulously alternated between stripes and solids, wondering if it really mattered where the balls went. Karlie slid the rack around for a moment, placing her fingers into the rack, lining the balls up perfectly on the dot.
Taylor watched her remove the rack with a satisfied smile and was handed a cue by the taller girl. She looked up at the girl with a questioning stare, raising one of her eyebrows at the stick in her hands.
Karlie smiled and went to put some chalk on the tip of her cue. Taylor watched her walk over to the other end of the table, taking the white ball with her. Karlie centered the cue ball on the table. She bent down, lining the shot up with her cue.
Taylor watched as Karlie slid the stick slowly over her slender fingers a few times, lining up her shot. The green eyed girl's eyes narrowed in concentration, her eye brows furrowed. A few strands of hair fell in her face, slightly blocking her view.
Taylor watched as Karlie slid her hand on the back of the cue, pulling back slightly. Green eyes looked up briefly, locking onto blue, just as they had earlier in the night. Without breaking her stare, Karlie blew at the hair covering her face, quickly tossing her head to the side, the hair now out of her face. She smiled at the shorter blonde before her eyes went back to the table.
Karlie lined her shot, pulling on the cue twice before following through, sending pool balls scattering around the table. Taylor watched in amazement as the tight triangle of balls dispersed, scattering wildly around the table. Three striped balls rolled off the table into the pockets. Karlie straightened her stance, a small smile on her face.
"How did you do that?" Taylor whispered in absolute amazement. "Psh. I've got skills girl." Karlie replied, trying to sound cool. Scoffing at the remark, Taylor narrowed her eyes playfully at the girl, shaking her head.
Karlie broke into a goofy smile. "Well I mean, I could teach ya, but I'd have to charge."
"Oh my god, you did not just go there." Taylor deadpanned, staring at the girl in shock. "Oh, I definitely went there." Karlie returned with a challenging stare of her own, placing her free hand on her hip, holding the stick with the other.
Taylor couldn't help but throw her head back in laughter. This girl was too much. Karlie watched Taylor's eyes light up in laughter, reminding her again of the sun light catching the waves, making it sparkle. It was quickly becoming one of her favorite things about the blue eyed girl. She was genuinely glad she could make the girl laugh so much.
