Selena and Lily made their way over to the bar where they left their friends. "Um, Lil. Where'd they go?" Selena looked around trying to locate the two blondes. Lily's eyes scanned the room, trying to catch a glimpse of Taylor and Karlie. "This shouldn't be so hard. They're like the tallest people ever." Selena whined, causing Lily to laugh.
"Maybe they left together." Lily mumbled, a small smile on her face at the thought. Selena quickly scanned the room again. 'They've gotta still be here. Taylor wouldn't just leave.' She thought to herself, hoping her friend wasn't getting into something she might come to regret.
Lily's eyes finished scanning the room, pretty much giving up, until she saw two people dancing out of the corner of her eye. She turned her head and focused on the pair. They were the only two people on the dance floor. There was no doubt about who the two long legged blondes were; it was Karlie and Taylor. Karlie had her head lightly resting against Taylor's, while Taylor's arms were wrapped around Karlie's neck; smiles on both their faces.
Lily smiled at the sight. She continued watching them for a moment before Selena's frantic ramblings brought her back. "God, Taylor, why don't you ever answer your phone? I want to make sure you're ok." Selena mumbled to herself, pulling her phone away from her ear as Taylor's voicemail message sounded again.
Shaking her head, Lily smiled at her friend. "Sel, relax. They're still here." Lily nodded her head towards the dance floor. "They're right over there." Selena turned to look where Lily motioned. In that moment, seeing her best friend wrapped up in some stranger's arms, smiling like that and holding each other close, Selena wasn't sure what to feel. She was conflicted and very confused.
On the one hand, she was happy to see her friend smiling and having a good time. It's been a long time since she had seen Taylor genuinely happy. But on the other hand, she couldn't help but feel like this was too much. This whole situation was weird. Taylor barely knew this person and everything seemed to be happening so fast. And that's not like Taylor. She's never been one to just jump into things and be so open.
Selena couldn't help but worry for her friend. She wanted Taylor to be happy more than anything. But Selena would never live with herself if Taylor got hurt by this and she knew she did nothing to stop it. Maybe this was all just a game; just another night to Karlie. Maybe they'd go their separate ways and never see each other again.
She's seen Taylor get her heart broken far more times than she would like. Everything always starts off great, and Taylor seems happy, but that happiness never lasts. But this still felt different. Taylor seemed different this time.
Struggling with the thoughts in her head, Selena looked at Lily who was still watching the pair with a smile. Taking one more look over her shoulder, Selena watched her friend. 'Maybe this isn't going to end badly. Karlie seems like a nice girl. Lily likes her and thinks she's a good person. Taylor's not stupid. She wouldn't do this if it wasn't what she wanted. Maybe I am just being over protective.'
Selena watched them dance with a smile on her face, choosing to simply appreciate the moment and the happiness it brought Taylor. If things didn't end up working out, she would be there to help her friend pick up the pieces. But Selena couldn't help but think that this time around, she wouldn't have to say I told you so. Maybe after all this time, Taylor had found her happy ending.

The song slowly faded out, both girls sighing as the night was now pretty much over. Karlie looked down and smiled seeing the blonde's saddened expression. She wasn't smiling because the girl was sad, but the thought that Taylor enjoyed their night together even a little bit made Karlie feel on top of the world.
