"We have until next Monday, and I plan on making this week the best one you've ever had!"
"It'll be amazing as long as I'm with you."
Let me remind you one more time.
"We have until next Monday, and I plan on making this week the best one you've ever had!"
"It'll be amazing as long as I'm with you."
Those words replayed in my head over and over again. At first I loved the idea that we'd spend the week together. But by Wednesday night I prayed Colby would walk through the hotel door any moment. Friday night, he showed up, only to leave three hours later for press. Now tonight's Sunday, and my week was spent with myself and a House marathon. I definitely don't think this was the best one I'd ever had.
The bed shifted and I looked to the alarm clock beside my bed; 2:38. Wonder what happened tonight..
"Do you hate me yet?"
I shrugged my shoulders not wanting him to see how upset I'd become the past week.
"I hate myself. I told you this week would be about the two of us, but you've got a shitty boyfriend who doesn't know how to say no to press. Just, please, talk to me."
Turning around so I could see Colby I wrapped my arms around his waist. He hesitated but finally he hugged me back.
"Don't be hard on yourself, sure I've been pissed at you for this entire week but I got to thinking, it's your job. I can't ask you to not do your job. I love you and even though our current situation sucks major ass, we'll figure stuff out."
"Maybe sometime this week I can sneak away and we can head to that local ice cream shop in Tulsa you love. I heard RAW will be filmed there and I'm pretty certain it's open 24 hours." He grinned at me.
"You sure know how to woo a girl don'tcha Seth Rollins?"
Tucking his head in my neck he kissed gingerly before whispering, "I woo 'em better than Ric Flair, baby!!"
-
"Novalee, may I speak with you in my office?"
I put the hair curler down and turned to the door. Stephanie McMahon stood there with an emotionless face staring me down. I could practically feel the fear radiating off of me.
"Of course. You guys got this under control?"
The other stylist nodded their head, who knows, this might be the last time I ever talk to them. They knew that. Everyone knew that. When you get called to a McMahon office it's either to get promoted or fired, and as of right now I'm the lead stylist backstage. So you can probably see where this is going.
I sat down across from Stephanie and I watched as she looked over a stack of papers. Probably my release papers..
"I'm not going to beat around the bush or anything Novalee. You've worked for WWE for years now and you've worked your way up the ladder backstage. Of course you're the best stylist that we've had but I'm not sure that fits you well anymore. With everything that's going on with the Seth storyline do feel like the best thing right now would be to.. how to I put this?"
I could feel the tears forming about to spill from my eyes, "Fire me..?"
Stephanie looked at me puzzled, "Heavens no! What makes you think we want to fire you?"
I took a deep breath feeling relieved, "Because like you said, I worked my way up the ladder backstage. I'm all the way at the top Steph, the only way now is down!"
