Sara Jay Palmer
I woke up blindfolded. My back felt stiff and painful from sitting too long. I tried to recount my memory to know where I am. And then I remembered I was kidnapped. But by whom? I don't know.
He has to come! His mother's going crazy!
I heard faint voices and I tried to concentrate to hear more.
Yes mate! Philip said Lady Boss will file for divorce if Boss keeps forcing him to lead. That's really fucked up man!
Philip? I remember Philip. He's the old guy at the pub. So this must be something related to Chase. Who kidnapped me? His family? Why would they kidnap me? I'm not even that close to Chase anymore. I haven't seen him in two weeks.
I pang of pain hit my chest like a tsunami. I don't understand why I am feeling like this. Why would I be hurt if Chase suddenly decided to ignore me? It's not like I'm his girlfriend or anything right? Yeah but you wish you were.
Maybe.
Maybe I wish I am.

I felt like going crazy. The flight drags like hell and I can't keep my heart beat to normal rate. I am both angry and worried that I don't even understand why I am like this. My family had dragged Sara into this mess. Is that how desperate my stepfather is?
As soon as I got into a cab, I almost wanted to fly to my family's secret villa. Knowing dad, he must have kept her there. The image of Sara smiling kept me going. I just have to save her.
-
It's almost dark when I got there and they had already turned the security alarms on. But I grew up here, so I know exactly the secrets of this villa. I walked into the blind spots of the camera that surrounds the house and used the secret door beside the window of the maid's quarter. Thanking the heavens that the maids are not yet in their rooms, I ran upstairs checking every room for Sara. But to my surprise, I found her to my room, the least I expect her to be.
She was there, already sleeping like an angel. My angel. But the tie marks reddened her hands and she looked so knocked up that I would assume she was drugged to sleep. She's not wearing any of her clothes but my sister's nighties. I was about to approach her when I was knocked out into my own darkness.
The first thing I saw is the devil himself, my stepfather. He looked the same as always but this time, minus the fancy suit just as I realized I was being tied down.
"What do you want? Why do you have to drag her into this? I'm here now! Let go of her!" I was spitting poison towards my own stepfather and this is not how my mother raised me. But he has to know that he has crossed the line. And I would do anything just to make Sara safe.
"Now now Chase. Let's not be highly tempered. I am not here to harm your girl. I was trying to reach you but you seemed to have cut me out of your life. So I guess a little motivation can help you come back running home. And I was right. You're here aren't you?" he smirked at me and I almost want to spit at him. When I was younger, I was dreaming to be like him, but when I realized how dirty this family business was, I hated every single thing with him since all he ever did was convince me that's the business isn't illegal.
"She's not my girl. Now let her go!" I can feel my body shaking uncontrollably.
"I may have let you slip for a while. But I know you are keeping tabs about her life. And I know you're watching her from a distance. A little creepy son. I expect you to be more than a gentleman than a stalker." He sipped from his wine and paced the room.
"Now let's get to the point. I will let go of her, if you promise your mother never to run away again. And by that, handle just a portion of the business. I'm giving all the money-maker to your sister so don't expect to be rich just like me." He motioned his men to untie me and opened the door. It's almost eleven in the evening but I know he has somewhere else to go. As soon as he walked out the room, my heart leaps with happiness knowing that everything will be alright. That I won't have to be a monster anymore. The oil company's the only legal thing in our family but it's better than drugs and smuggling which will probably go to my sister's hands. I wasted no time and almost flew the stairs up only to be stopped by my mother.
I was expecting her to be angry at me for not taking over after dad. But I was more than surprised when she hugged me.
"My son. My only son. I am so happy you're back." she rubbed my back just like when I was a child and darkness would scare me.
"You're not mad aren't you?"
"Of course not! I thought you love to take over your stepfather's business since you've been so active in the fights. And don't deny those things okay? I was really busy keeping tabs on the customs and shipments and all of that that I never had a chance to just look at you and realize how different you are with your dad. And how different you are when you're with her." she smiled and looked me deep in the eyes.
"Being a stalker might have run a little in our blood." She chuckled and I joined her too. Of course she knows everything! She's a hacker, a good one. She even hacked the national bank when she was in university for Pete's sake!
"I was so worried when I knew you'd gone to different places. And it hurts me knowing you were running away from us. So I threatened you stepfather a little bit and he finally gave in." she smiled one more time and tapped my back. "Now go get her." and she walked away.
My thoughts are now clouded to the sleeping Sara in front of me. I let my instincts guide me since my mind is currently missing in action. I slowly slid beside her into my ever familiar bed and caressed her hair like I always wanted to.
"You're safe now Sara. Sweet dreams." And I sealed the day with a kiss.
