When Smantha walked into the house wasted on Jake's 1/2 birthday, Luke went off, exclaiming simply, "Get out of my house! The wedding's off!"

Jake started to cry and Samantha got mad. She said, "Shut the Hell up, dumb ass kid!" and threw a book at him.

It bounced off the couch behind Jake. "If you dont get the hell out of my house this minute," Luke tells, "I'll have your ass thrown in a jail cell!"

Samantha ended up in a jail cell, and two months later, Jake aka Jacob Thomas Hemmings started to walk, and before Luke knew it talked. But his first words were towards his babysitter, Ashton. He had said, "Dadda?" and pulled Ashton's hair. He had really thought that Ashton was his dad because Luke was always working. Never there.

And when this time came, Luke was emotional. He hadn't seen Jacob's first crawl, his first roll, his first gurgle, steps or even words. It was like he wasn't even part of the family anymore, just the money-maker.
"Okay," Ashton says. "So I'll see you again tomorrow?"

Luke nods. "And the next day, and the next, and the next. Ash?" Luke pauses. "You do realize this isn't ever going to end. This is how it's going to be forever."

Luke sits, holding his son, thinking about children. Him as a kid, having other kids.

But did he really want other kids? He could barely take care of one.

"Daddy!" Jacob screams at 2:35 A.M. "Where Daddy?"

"Daddy's right here, Baby. Don't you worry."

"No!" Jacob screams, standing in his crib. "Want Daddy!"

Luke sits in the rocking chair he had put by Jacob's crib and cried. "I'm not his Dad." Luke muttered, taking a deep breath and letting out a sigh. "I'm not his Daddy."

Jacob stopped crying. "Old man," he says. "Okay?"

Luke laughed and picked up Jake. "Believe it or not, I'm your Daddy."

Jacob giggled, wrapping his arms around Luke's neck. "Love you old man. But no Daddy."

Luke sighed. At least he had said love you.

"Love you too. Always."

Believe. Always believe. Its the best advice you can give, the best advice you can get. Its the only advice that counts. Almost like love.

But then again, Love had always failed Luke. Samantha had failed Luke. He ran away at age fifteen and joined a band (5 Seconds of Summer) because his parents had failed him, but when Calum Hood had left the band, his whole life collapsed. His whole life had failed him. Even he had failed himself.

And then he found Samantha, and then Jacob had come. And all of the sudden, life didn't fail him, it pushed him. It was the reason that he pushed himself, that he kept moving. But Luke wasn't sure he could move any longer.

Ring! Ring, ring! Ring! Ring, ring! Luke picked up his phone and answered. "Hello?"

"Hello. Is this Luke Hemmings speaking?"

"Yes. Yes, it is."

"Uh, this is Marcus Georgious from the North Carolina State Penetentiary. I'm calling in regard of Samantha Williams."

Luke's eyes went wide and he says into the phone, "One second, please." He locks the front door and goes into the nursery where he remembers there is an open window. No. No, no, no, no, no.

"Hey, Jacob." A feminine voice says and Jacob's scream comes from Luke's room. But Jacob had been asleep in his crib. Luke jeers the cock of a hand gun and another scream.

Running, Luke slams into the locked bedroom door and screams out in pain. "Ahh!" he screams. "Dang it, there's a door there!"

The door unlocks and Samantha steps out, on Luke and then, Bam!
