I went to Jeremiah's door and knocked. There was no answer.

I opened the door and he was listening to music and facing the wall.

I tapped his back and he jumped. He took off his headphones and faced me.

"Dad"?

I sat on his bed. "Your mom told me what's happening. Son I'm sorry I ignored and the family I didn't mean it. I was hurt and I forgot my family was hurting too".

He looked at me. "How am I suppose to feel dad".

"No you tell me how you feel son. What's going on"?

"Grandpa is dead he was like my bestfriend. I told him everything. And I never told him goodbye". He started to cry and I pulled him close to me.

"I don't know how to feel".

"Just let out the emotions". I started to tear up.

"He's gone dad".

"I know son. I know".

After our long talk and cries he fell asleep. I feel like a horrible father. I didn't know anything or that he felt this way.

I walked into the room and got more comfortable and changed. And then went downstairs.

Everyone was eating except Jeremiah who was sleeping.

"Did everything go well"? Candace asked.

I nodded. "Yeah he's asleep".

"So daddy better". My baby girl asked.

"Yes sweetie everything is much better". I smiled and sat on the end of the table.

"Glad to have you back dad". My oldest son Jacob said

"Mhm so what's this I hear about you being a class clown in school".

"Wha- I just I umm what about Jules on the cheer team have you seen that outfit. It's way passed her knees dad you can see your butt". He said changing the conversation.

"Oh you little-".

"Hey that's enough". Candace said cutting them off.

"One Jacob I heard about that and two your grounded. Hand me your phone I know you have it with you".

"But dad".

"Now"! I said with my dad voice.

He sighed and gave me his phone.

"And after dinner. I want that laptop of yours".

"Dad are you serious"! He said shocked.

"Very. Your lucky I'm not beating your a-".

Candace cleared her throat.

"Butt".

"And next time you want to act out in class and show off in front of your little friends. I'll come up and embarrass you". Candace said.

And knowing her she will do it.

"Yes ma'am".

"Jason tell daddy what happened today". Candace said.

He shook his head. "He don't care". He pouted and played with his food.

"What little buddy of course I care".

"But you never home".

"I know but I promise I'll be home more often instead of at work".

"Go on and tell him sweetie".

"I play football".

"What since when".

"Yesterday. He wanted to play for his school and his first game is Saturday and everyone is going".

"Mom I work". Jules said

Candace gave her the 'oh your going' look.

"Daddy will you be there"? Jason asked.

"Of course I wouldn't miss it for the world".

Jason smiled at me and started to eat again.

"We should do something as a family". Candace said and everyone groaned.

"Now don't you guys. I think that sounds good. It's almost fall and still hot. Maybe we should go to the beach". I said

"Actually that doesn't sound bad". Jacob said.

"Yeah honey I think that's a good idea. We can go after Jason's game".

"That sounds great". I said.

"And you can bring Blake and Sophia".

"Oh no that boy isn't allowed". I said to Candace.

She glared at me. "Yes he is".

"Fine I guess". I huffed.
