Brace yourselves, this is a long one.
"Hayley will be here any minute. Do I look okay? Is my hair fine?" Jenna frantically asked Tay.
Tay hated it when Jenna worried about petty things like the opinions of others, because she thought Jenna was completely perfect the way she was. She told her this many times, but Jenna never seemed to believe her. She thought Tay only said those things to make her feel better or simply because they were friends. She didn't know she actually meant it.
"Of course, Jen. You look amazing," Tay told her, though she couldn't help but feel a bit jealous that Jenna was desperate to impress someone else.
Jenna smiled warmly before giving the brunette a tight hug and a kiss on the cheek. "Thanks, you're the best."
Just as Jenna pulled away, there was a knock on the door. The blonde bit her lip nervously and gave Tay an anxious look, her blue eyes full of worry.
"You'll be fine," Tay reassured her before walking towards the hallway of the tiny apartment they shared.
Jenna nodded then took a deep breath as she slowly walked to the front door and opened it.
"Hey," Tay heard a familiar voice say as she listened from the hall.
"Hi, Hayley." Tay couldn't see Jenna, but she could almost picture the huge smile on her face as she greeted Hayley. The same smile she wore whenever she talked about the redhead. "I'll be out shortly. First, let me grab my sweater."
Tay heard footsteps. Jenna was making her way to the hall closet, where they kept their coats and hoodies. She rushed into her room. She didn't want Jenna to know she had been eavesdropping. That would've been embarrassing.
She soon heard the closet door close, and shortly after that, she heard another door close, which assumed was the front door.
Tay let out a sigh and stepped out of her room. She unenthusiastically made her way into the kitchen and grabbed a snack before walking into the living room. She plopped down on the couch and grabbed the remote from the wooden coffee table, turning on the TV. She then began to flip through the channels in a hopeless attempt to get Jenna off her mind.
It was going to be a long night.
~~~
It was a quarter to ten when Tay found herself growing bored of the television. She turned it off and picked up her phone, which had somehow ended up on the floor within the couple of hours she spent watching reruns of Friends. She saw that she had five new messages, all from her best friend Alex.
9:02 pm: Hey Tay, whatcha doin?
9:13 pm: I'm bored, you should talk to me
9:23 pm: Wow way to ignore my texts loser
9:30 pm: Is Jenna still out? Cuz if so you should invite me over to your place and we should have a movie marathon
9:35 pm: You know what? Fuck it, I'm inviting myself over and I'm bringing Lynn and Jack with me
9:35 pm: Oh and alcohol
Oh god, Tay thought to herself as she read the messages. She replied to his texts with a simple 'ok' then placed her phone on the coffee table, imagining all the crazy things that could possibly go down when they arrived.
