Unexpectedly

Chapter 2: Saving Edriel

It's dismissal time at Arianne's school, Montessori National Academy. She still feels bad about her headphones. Apparently, she's a music addict (which you, reader, probably know about it).
She can't stand a day without listening to music, even just at least 2 songs. She's so gloomy, so she decided to go to a bakeshop and buy some sandwich. She sat on the stairs of the bakeshop while eating a sandwich. There was a little girl, playing with her ball happily. Her ball bounce all the way to the street, luckily there wasn't a vehicle passing by. But when the little girl go to get her ball on the street, a truck was heading towards her. The driver beeped at her so she will go away. But when she saw the truck heading towards her, she just stare at the truck. She can't move because of complete shock and fear. Arianne, the only person that saw what's happening, dropped her bag and rushed to save the girl. The truck is getting really close to the girl so Arianne run really fast. The truck was about to hit the girl, but luckily Arianne was fast enough to reach the girl just in time. She jumped and grabbed the girl with her. They rolled a bit on the ground and they were safe.

Arianne: "hey... hey, are you okay?"

The girl looked at her and she hugged Arianne while crying.

Little Girl: "I'm... I'm scared! I'm so scared!"
Arianne: "It's okay. Your'e safe now."

She hugged the little girl to calm her down. A few minutes later, she finally calmed down.

Girl: "thank you so much for saving me! Your'e my hero!"

She hugged Arianne tightly. It made Arianne smile and blush a bit. She haven't made an interaction with kids for a long time.

Girl: "I'm Edriel. What's your name?"
Arianne: "Well, I'm..."
Erick: "EDRIEL!!"

Erick (the jerk that hit Arianne and broke her headphones) was running looking very worried. When he saw Edriel, it's like all his worries are gone. He ran to her and so does Edriel.

Erick: "Edriel!"
Edriel: "big brother!"
Arianne: (big brother? Wait, she's that jerk's sister?!)

Erick hugged Edriel and was relieved that she is safe.

Erick: "are you okay? What happened?" *looks at Arianne* "hey you, what did you do with my sister?"
Arianne: "oh nothing... I just saved her life. I saved her from getting hit by a truck."
Erick: "wait... What?"
Arianne: "why? Are you expecting me to be a cold-hearted person?"
Edriel: "wait, you haven't tell me your name yet."
Arianne: "oh hehe, i'm Arianne. Sorry i almost forgot."
Edriel: "nice to meet you, Arianne. This is my big brother, Erick."
Arianne: "nice to meet you, Erick." *wants to shake hands with Erick*
Erick: "nice to meet you too, Arianne"

Both of them smiled at each other but Erick's face went closer to Arianne's.

Erick: *whispers* "don't feel lucky just because you saved my sister. I still don't like you."
Arianne: *whispers* "I was about to say that to you too, you fucking jerk."

Then they let go of each other's hand and giving a fake smile just to make Edriel think that they are friends.

Arianne: "well, it's getting late. I should better go now. Bye, Edriel. Stay safe, okay?" *waves hand goodbye*
Edriel: "byeeee! Thank you for being my hero!" *waves hand goodbye*

Arianne starts to walk home then she looked back at Edriel to give her a smile. When she looked at Erick, she can see that he's glaring at her. So she glared back at him.
Erick and Edriel ride a tricycle to their house. When they arrived, Edriel run into the house to tell her mom about what happened.

Edriel: "mommy!!"
Sarah: "hi Edriel!" *hugs Edriel*
Erick: "hey,mom."
Sarah: "hi Erick." *kisses on his cheek* "how was school today?"
Edriel: "mommy, it was amazing! Someone saved my life!"
Sarah: "wait, what? What is she talking about, Erick?"
Erick: "she almost got hit by a truck, but luckily someone saved her."
Sarah: "what?! How did she come to the point when she's about to get hit by a truck?"
Edriel: "my ball bounced on the road so i went to get it."
Sarah: "oh dear. Gladly someone saw and saved you. Who is this person?"
Edriel: "it's Arianne. I think big brother know her."
Sarah: "is she a friend of yours, Erick?"
Erick: "what?! No! Never in my life, that I will be a friend to that woman."
Sarah: "how about we invite her to dinner?"
Edriel: "yey! We'll play in my room!"
Erick: "what?! Why?!"
Sarah: "to give her thanks for saving your sister."
Erick: "but mom I....she...."
Sarah: "what's your problem? You should be thankful that she saved your sister. If it weren't with her, your sister would be her."
Erick: *can't look straight at his mom.*
Sarah: "so tomorrow, you will invite her to have a dinner with us.... On your own."
Erick: "what? Can i bring Edriel with me?" *points at Edriel*
Edriel: *looks so excited for mom's answer*
Sarah: "no."
Edriel: aw...
Sarah: "it seems like you have a problem with this girl, so you have to deal with your problems by yourself."
Erick: *slightly glared at his mom*

Erick walked upstairs to his room to change his clothes. After changing, he sit on his bed to think.

Erick: "how will I make her to come with me for a dinner? We hate each other, she'll probably think that i'm gonna trick her or something..." *lays down on his bed and stared at the ceiling." "What am I going to do?"
