Chapter 38

Author's P.O.V.

The next morning, Athena woke up with a heavy head maybe because of lack of sleep or maybe its the stress that kept her up last night. She didn't sat up or get off from bed instead she buried her head on her pillow hoping her headache will go away. 

In days like this, she's already supposed to be in the garden having an early stroll as usual but at her state, she might not do those things constantly. A week had passed and her voices are slowly fading. They barely come and she was happy about that because of what her family has been doing for her but still at night her thoughts will keep her up and woke up a few hours later. 

The thought of the outside world is still imprinted on her mind. No one confirmed anything or said anything about it at least that's what she knows because it was really never talked about in the house. Her parents made sure that all the problems are left out the door and just enjoy each others company and she really appreciates that thinking how lucky she is to have a family that truly loves her.

In two days, her next session for her radiation and though Athena kept thinking that it will make her better. She can't help to have second thoughts on it because it's making her very tired and loose her appetite and that worries and scares her. 

She tries not to think about her condition and the facts behind it. She tries to stay positive but for how long. How long will her body can take medicines and sessions for radiation. when she thinks about these things, the thought of giving up is there. But seeing her family enjoying her company removes that and motivates her to keep fighting. She just wishes she can fight harder enough to overcome her cancer.

"A week after Athena's radiation, maybe I'll arrange a flight to Spain. We'll have a vacation." Simon said casually and it made the three looked at him with wide smiles. They are all seated at the dining room eating their dinner as Simon looks up and smiled.

"Aww, that'll be fun." Cheryl cooed as she placed a hand on top of his husband's and Athena caught a glimpse of the gesture which made her smile and turn to look at Eric who was busy at his food and the little lets out a giggle at the sight of his little brother's face which made the couple look towards them seeing Athena wiping Eric's mouth with the angelic smile playing on her face. The couple exchanges looks and smiles before turning back to their children. 

"There we go." Athena whispered before placing a kiss on his brother's temple. She looks up and stop at her parents' look on them and with that she offered a smile raising her brows in confusion. 

"Hmm?"

"Nothing sweetheart just finish your food already so you can take meds yea?" Athena nods and went back to her food. After dinner, Simon went upstairs with Eric so the little boy can change into his pajamas while Cheryl and Athena remain downstairs so Athena could take her medicines.

"Open" Athena opens her mouth as Cheryl drops a pill. Cheryl handed her the glass of water and she took it, drinking to take the pill down to her system while Cheryl takes another pill from another bottle. 

"Last one." As much as Athena doesn't want to take the last pill because of it's taste, she still opened her mouth and Cheryl dropped the on her tongue and the little girl immediately drank all the contents of her glass before letting out a shudder. Cheryl wipes her daughter's mouth and placed a peck on her forehead making the little girl sigh.
