Chapter 24:
Something in Mal's stomach bubbled as she saw Ben fall to the ground.
"I love you."
She gasped and slumped to the ground. She scratched at the mark on her neck as it began to burn.
"I'm Ben."
"I met this girl that rocked my world like it's never been rocked
And now I'm living just for her and I won't ever stop
I never thought that it can happen to a guy like me.
But now look at what you've done, you got me down on my knees."
"MAL! WILL YOU GO TO THE CORONATION WITH ME?"
"I can look into your eyes and I can tell you're not evil."
"This is Mal. From the island. My girlfriend."
"Mal Bertha, would you do me, Benjamin Florian, the honor of becoming my wife and Queen?"
"I love you, Mal!"
Mal stood up abruptly and ran down the stairs. She made it outside and punched one of the Gastons in the face. She looked at Dracul and he understood immediately.
The girl looked down at Ben and knelt down. He had fallen onto his back and blood was flooding the dirt on the ground.
"Ben." she whispered and cupped his cheeks in her hands.
"Mal." he whispered back.
She buried her face into his neck. He slowly wrapped his arms around her.
"You came back." he said.
She nodded. "Of course I came back. This is all my fault."
"Maybe it's better this way."
Mal sat up quickly. "Don't talk like that. You'll be alright. We're together now. Everything's going to be fine. You'll see."
"At least I got to see you one...last...time."
He kissed her hand that was still on his cheek before smiling and shutting his eyes.
"No, no!" Mal cried. "Please! Please! Please don't leave me! I love you!"
She leaned down and kissed Ben. A single tear slipped down her face onto his.
She pulled away and laid her forehead against his.
"I love you so much, Benjamin Florian. I promise that I will love you forever." she whispered and touched her newly-found mark.
It was all she had of him.
"And I will love you forever."

Bertha smiled as she snuck out of her prison cell for the third time in a week. Not that anyone ever noticed.
Bertha had been living in the Sorcerer's household for three years and nothing had ever happened.
She hadn't been turned evil. Never abused, raped, nothing like that. The cell was at least clean and the bed wasn't as crappy you would think.

"B!" Gavin called.
The girl ran and hugged him. He kissed her cheek and wrapped his arms around her waist.
"I like it here." he said.
"I do too."
