22. Have You Seen This Girl?

Yay! We back!! Sorry for the long wait but we had our final exams and had a lot of studying to do but we back now!

Blue

I reluctantly stepped aside so that the detective could come inside. I quickly shut the door as Delta appeared from the kitchen, a spoonful of ice-cream in her mouth, the tub in her one hand, whipped cream and another spoon in the other.

"Who was tha-" Delta said through the contents in her mouth but was cut off when she approached me and Detective Hawthorne was visible to her. She immediately set down everything on the front table, took the spoon out of her mouth and slipped the resonance of the cream off of her mouth.

"Uhmmm... Delta, this is Detective Hawthorne and he's here to... uhhh... Why are you here?"

"I'm in charge of the investigation of a Miss Stacey . She was reported missing and this was said to be the last place she was seen."

My heart stopped beating and the world around me seemed to slow down. My breath hitched and all I heard was a deafening zing in my ears. I couldn't show him any signs that I possibly know something so I clenched my hands into fists to calm myself down. I then noticed that we all just stood in the entrance not uttering a single word.

"If it's okay I'd like to see all the med students for a quick interview," he said seeing as neither of us answered his previous statement.

"Uhhh, of course, I'll go and get them," Delta said and quickly scurried off in the direction of the stairs.

"Would you like something to drink? Tea, coffee or a soda? Water maybe," the words left my lips in a rushed tone, I felt uneasy standing alone with him but expertly kept my composure.

"Uh, no, no. I'm okay, thanks."

Relieved that he said that, I nodded and replied, "Then I'll get going, you may go to the living room, it's right through there," I told him, pointing to the doorway on the right and turned around to walk away.

I needed to know what he was going to say and even though I knew that Delta would share I needed to hear it for myself.

As soon as I heard him enter the living room I quickly turned around and grabbed everything Delta put down on the front table and went to the kitchen which was right next to the living room.

I stopped in the doorway remembering that there was an opening in the wall, like a window without glass, and the detective would see me if I walked in. I then crouched and contemplated what to do. I could either crawl across or waddled on my haunches. I went with the second one knowing crawling would be impossible with the contents of my hands.

I'm not going to lie, for those few minutes it took me to get to where I wanted to be I totally felt like Cat Woman. Maybe a less sexy one but Cat Woman nevertheless.

I heard muffled voices coming from the stairs and knew that it was the the med students. Once they entered the living room their chattering died down and even though I wasn't in the same room as them I could sense the tension and fear.

"Alright ladies, I'm Detective Hawthorne. I won't keep you long so if you'd sit down we can get started."

I heard some shuffling and then made myself comfortable, the tiles cool on my butt but it didn't bother me. I was sitting under the 'window' with the ice-cream in my hand and I immediately indulged myself in it but not forgetting what I was there for.
