By the time that I finally managed to reach Kimmy's house, I was soaked. Enough so to ring my jacket - okay my mom's jacket - out and watch the water race down to the shiny slick tiled floor.
"Come her, don't be shy."Kimmy said with a warm welcoming smile as she took my jacket and hung it up to dry. "I won't bite." She giggled.
I couldn't help but be shy though. This was all new to me. The heart warming tingling feeling of someone that barely knows you being nice to you out of their own freewill. It was something different.
"Sorry." I said as I smiled nervously.
"Let's go up to my bedroom to get you into some dry clothes. You look about my size." She said as she scanned my body and rushed up the stairs without any further words.
I guess she expected me to follow. "Okay." I said as I trailed behind her.
The interior décor of her house was astonishing everything looked so in place and so proper.
"This is my baby brother's room." She said showing a 'disgusted' face as we passed a black door. It had a gigantic red 'X' on it and with loads of rock band quotes and a 'Caution NO Nerds' sign. It was so sick. I'm seriously contemplating on whether or not I'll get away with snatching it. I'm serious - he better lock his door tonight... okay that sounded wrong. But if he doesn't it'll be missing by morning and guess who'll have a new door.
Further down the passage was a plain white door. Basically next to her brother's. It was decorated with a huge 'Do Not Disturb sign' - no offence, but what's up with this family and signs on doors, what do their parents have one too? Anyway, her door was okay, plain and simple.
Kimmy opened her door and it revealed a neat room with purple coated walls. She had a Twenty One Pilots poster on her walls with a shelf holding quite a few albums - rock I'm guessing, yeah and all that teenage junk with girly stuff like make-up and that pink nail polish shit. There was one thing that stood out though, it was as if time stood still and I think I had a flashback - in the corner of her room was a sunburst cherry EB-2 Gibson bass guitar. One just like my broth- nevermind. Damn I barely know her - can't I just ask to pick it up. No you barely know her. I just had too keep my chin up so I wouldn't end up drooling.
"So you look at bit older than me." I said trying to distract myself form the beautiful shiny instrument as I sat down on Kimmy's bed as she searched for some dry clothes.
"What grade are you?" she asked instead.
"Tenth." I answered.
"Oh yeah then I'm a year older than you." She said throwing clothes over her shoulder whilst rummaging through the third drawer now. "My brother is in the same grade as you though." She said finally turning around to what once was a neat room.
"I thought you said he was your baby brother?"
"Yeah well he is, I'm older." She said rolling her eyes giving me the feeling that she doesn't really get along with her brother.
"Do you play." Said looking over at the bass in the corner - I couldn't resist anymore.
"Yeah, that little devil taught me." I'm guessing she's referring to her brother.
"Do you mind if I." I said hoping she'd let me play or at least just pluck a string.
"No, of course, go ahead." She said walking to the guitar and handing the beauty to me.
"Thanks." I said in awe. It was purely astonishing.
I effortlessly slid the strap over my head with it comfortably hugging my shoulder. Slowly I traced my fingertips over the fret down the fourth string. "Here I go I," thought to myself.
I began strumming and before I knew it I was playing the intro to What I Like about You and the guitar solo before the bridge. I took no note of it, but I ended up going from humming the lyrics to singing them out loud - I guess I got lost in song.
"Wow... that was incredible! Your voice, your playing, how in the world?" Kimmy said flabbergasted.
I answered before she could go on. "I was also taught by my broth- " Why did I say that? "Um, by my brain... I was also taught by my brain." Saved it.
"Well it was great." She laughed at my previous line.
"Yeah it was." Said a strange voice from afar.
"Stop being a creep and get out of my room you dweeb. I don't want you scare away our guest. Loser." She snapped on her way to shut the door. "Oh yeah this is my irritating baby brother Luke, Jess." She said as she was stopped from closing the door by Luke's foot.
"I liked it." He said moving his foot and opening the door further to come closer, eventually next to me.
"Thank you." I blushed. "It's okay, not that great." I smiled.
"Just get out already." Kimmy said exhaling heavily and over-dramatically. "I'm going to get us some cocoa, but in the mean time you can sort through some clothes for what to wear." She said to me calmly. "And when I get back you better be gone." She angrily directed at her brother.
"Blaaaaah" Luke said as she walked out. I laughed. I could see the temptation in her eyes to come back and tackle him, but she probably couldn't cause I was here. I'd hate to be him when I leave.
"So I don't think you look like a Kimmy clothing type of girl." He said sorting through the piled mess on the bedroom floor.
"What do you mean be that?" I said almost offended.
"Well..." He looked at the ceiling.
"Well what?" I said hastily.
"Look at these." He said holding up pink prissy floral girly clothes. "This has Jess written all over it." I was surprised he actually took note of my name.
"You don't know my style." I said too fast.
"Well is this it?" He said scanning my body head to toe examining my clothing.
"No." I explained embarrassed at my failed attempt of winning the argument.
"I thought so." He replied satisfied. Without any further words he walked over to Kimmy's bed and slid out a box underneath it. "Here wear this." He said taking the lid off the box and throwing a black faded ripped jeans at me - my size.
"I can't wear this. It must've been there for a reason." I met these people today and I'm literally already in their clothes.
"Yeah, it's there when you're hiding it. It was a birthday present from me and of course she'll never wear it so she hid it telling people she lost it." He said lifting a brow.
"Well its cool." These words alone curved the edges of his locked pink lips.
"This way." He said exiting the room.
"Where are we going?" I asked confused.
He gave me a look as if to say "Isn't it obvious?". "My room." He answered walking out.
