Re-cap

"Don't." I uttered coldly.

"Excuse me?" He said baffled at my expressions.

"Don't feel sorry, don't pity me. I deserved every bit of what I received." I said. "Trust me."

"Don't be ludicrous. Stop saying that. You're worth none of that shit."

"Let's just let the peace flow." I said calmly.

"Huh?" He said.

"We're gonna relax." I pointed out idiotically.

"Ohhhhh." He said. "Yeah that sounds cool."

For the next hour or so Brad and I just poured our hearts in a deep conversation - me, telling him about how hard it was at school and how I felt about everything - him, telling me about his strict parents and how he had to basically support himself with his band. From that day on, Brad probably knew me like the palm of his hand - well sort of... but, um... those other sad depressing parts aren't important or relevant in this case. Why would he want to know about them anyway. They're dead.

Brad came home with me and my mom invited him to stay the night, since she didn't want him to waste all of his money at one of the hotels here. He gratefully accepted, but was forced to sleep on the couch since our guest room  still wasn't ready - the paint was drying, mum thought it would only take a day if it was don yesterday, guess not that paint.

-----------------------------

During the night after I had peacefully fallen asleep, I heard a slight creak at my door. "Jess it's freezing down there." The little Birmingham accent mumbled.

"Wh... what?" I sleepily answered.

"It's freezing." He said a bit loud, yet still managing not to go above a whisper.

"Would you like another blanket?" I turned and pulled my blankets over my face, with my eyes still shut. "You can get on from th.... from the cupboard underneath the stair case." I said drifting off to sleep.

"No." He said causing me to awaken again, barely even trying to open my eyes.

"Then what would you like you idiot?" I croaked in an angry sleepy voice.

"I would like you to sleep next me."

"On the couch?" I moaned - still not lifting my eyelids.

  "Yes."

"But, its late and dark and I'll walk into a wall and stub my toe like when I was looking for bread in the middle of the night." I said as I turned over lying on my face.

"Don't be so dramatic."

"I'm not..." The sound of my voice muffled by the pillow. "And I refuse to get up."

"Suit yourself." Without further words, Brad flipped me over, rolling me up like a blanket burrito and lifted me bridal-style. He silently, but unsuccessfully tip-toed down the stairs wincing at the creak of each floor-board. When I finally opened my eyes he had laid me down and was in the process of covering me with snug blankies - clearly he wasn't getting cold, cause damn this was warmer than my bed. He finally wormed his way into a spooning position behind me and draped his arm over mine.

My mum is going to kill me, but I was actually thinking about our couch. I never knew it was this big or cosy. Surprisingly it was, since never had it ever been cosy before and I always use to fall off it.

--------------------------

I awoke only to find myself till on that couch. Damn I thought it was a dream since it never felt like this before. I rolled over to face Brad as I wiped the sleep from my eyes. "Morning." He smiled.

"Morning." I spoke with my hand over my mouth.

"And that's for?" He asked.

"Morning breath."

"Oh. Then brush your teeth."

"Fine." I rolled off the couch and trotted off to the bathroom where I brushed my teeth and washed my face. "When does your train leave today?" I asked as soon as I got back. Damn school tomorrow.

"Have you checked the weather? It's snowing like crazy, three foot trenches." He said walking over to the curtain and drew it uncovering not necessarily a winter wonderland, but more of a bizarre blizzard.

"Does this mean your staying?" I smiled in hope of a yes.

"Yes, I checked online and there will only be a train on Wednesday."

"That's great."

"Don't worry though, my parents have booked a hotel about a twenty-minute drive from here, so I can visit. And your mum said I can have dinner here. Well of course after that firm scolding about last night."

"What the hell did she say?"

"She just told me never to do it again."

"Wow. Nice of her." I was so surprised at her actions, she's not the person to let something go that quick.

"Yeah, she also said to tell you that you're gonna have a chat about how far to go when she gets back from work."

"Damn." Knew it was too good to be true.

"Just let it go, think about the bright side."

"Bright side?" The hell?

"Yeah, we have the day to ourselves."

"Oh yeah to our-" I stopped rubbing my belly. "Sorry." I squinted showing the slight pain piercing me.

"Are you alright?" He asked as he placed his hand on my shoulder.

"Yes, would you excuse me though?" I said as I walked towards the bathroom. I knew exactly what was wrong. It was that time of the month again. Luckily I had an emergency sanitary kit in the cabinet underneath the bathroom sink - comes in handy when it's only women in the house.

As soon as I was done, I felt rather lazy and embarrassed - embarrassed that I had taken so long in there, what if he thought I took a shit or something.

I just wasn't in the mood and made an A-line to my bedroom.

"Jess." I heard soft knocking at my door. "I heard your door shut a few minutes ago, I just came to check up. Are you okay?" Brad said walking over and sitting on my bed.

I hid beneath my blankets, but he had still managed to see my figure.

"What's wrong." He asked again.

"My tummy." I mumbled.

"That time?"

"Yeah." I said as my head began to find it's way to the surface again.

"Be right back."

Approximately ten minutes later - I would know, I checked - Brad came in holding two cups of steaming cocoa. He put them down and turned on my laptop, placing 10 Things I Hate About You in the CD player.

"I love this film." I said as I opened up the blankets, escorting him in.

"Great, now then, let's watch it." He said waiting for me to press play. As he sipped his cocoa.

He is the best. I couldn't ask for any better.

Brad's POV

"Jess! Jess!" I yelled trying to wake her.

I was so scared. One minute she was asleep peacefully - the next she was tossing and turning, almost scared. She spoke, but not enough for me to make anything out - she sounded terrified though.

"Jess!" I yelled as she started shaking.
