Nineteen

"Tonight we will be scouring the whole bat district. We need all hands on deck. We've gotten a tip about a hoard hanging around there. Be alert and stay with your partner. Call for backup if needed. Report back every hour, unless otherwise in a battle." Wrath said, "Head out."
Sage was ready for her first night on the field as a member of the brotherhood. She liked the idea of a fight. She hated that Wade had told Beth what he had about her. How could he love her and think those things? Jane had drawn blood that morning for testing to see if she could seperate the two bloods. She sure hoped they would be able to. She wanted to be exactly what Wade wanted. She wanted to take back their love making mishap and try over again. She pushed the thought from her head as they dematerialized into the heart of the bar district. She hoped she smelled lesser. Hoped her body told her they were near. She just hoped for her sake there wasn't too many. She had something to prove tonight and she didn't want to get hurt. Her partner was Vishous and he wasn't anyone to play with. She wanted to show him her skills. As they started patrolling she felt a pull in her stomach and knew which way to head. She headed in the direction barely noticing Vishous telling someone her actions. She was being monitored and she knew that. As she drew near a pain happened and anger filled her body. She began to shake and she began to move faster and faster. When she came upon the lessers she stopped cold. There were at least forty of them and more in the buildings.
"Oh shit." She heard Vishous say as the lessers moved in to attack.

Alarms started going off around the mansion. People were materalizing into the mansion and leaving covered in weapons. What had Sage gotten into. Wade hoped she was alright. He raced toward the gym to suit up as well hopeing that no one would try and stop him.
"Whoa what are you doing here?" Blaylock asked.
"Suiting up. I am assuming that it's all hands on deck." He said smoothly.
"Your lucky that's just the case. I can't turn anyone away from the fight. Suit up and head out. Heads up... Stay away from Sage. She is... Not herself."
Wades heart dropped at that comment. He hoped it didn't mean what he thought it meant. He strapped on as many weapons as he could think of and headed out. When he arrived it was mass chaos. Lessers everywhere. Vampires fighting everywhere. Butch running ragged. Sage never slowing down. He joined the fight and tried to keep his eyes on Sage. He hoped she was being careful. In his thoughts he didn't see a lesser about to jump him. He watched Sage rip it's head off and stab it in the heart repeatedly until it burst into ash. When she looked up at him her eyes were all black and she was shaking. What had happened to her? Before he knew it she was off again fighting a group of lessers alone. He couldn't dwell on it for too long as he joined the battle. Slowly but surely they dwindled the number of lessers down until they had them all. Everyone was injured some how but nothing too serious. He hoped. They all gathered identification off of every pile of ash and gathered in the street to talk more. Everyone joined but Sage. He turned every which direction and didn't find her. Everyone else noticed too and began to look for her too. Finally he laid eyes on her laying in the street half awake. She just laid there when he touched her. Her eyes were normal.
She turned her head and smiled, "Phoenix..." Her eyes grew wide, "No... Don't take her. Please don't take her!!" She cried.
He watched her get to her feet and take off at a dead run down the street. He saw the lessers dragging a young woman into a car. Sage wasn't going to reach them. He watched her dematerialize into the car as they sped away. It wasn't true. She didn't just give herself to the lessers. Had she?

Sorry for the short chapter. It was action filled and awesome to write. I wanted to get it up before Halloween as I will be busy this weekend.
