Testing the Waters (A Miniminter Fanfiction)

Prologue

30 years ago, after a rogue science experiment, the hysteria was a new normal.

Chaos crowded the streets, and hysteria infected those with unprecedented powers.

Fear guided them, even if they were the good guys. They were freaks and monsters to normal people, and they began taking these unique humans and put them into laboratories to dissect them.

One ruled them all. John Wayne. He wanted all of these superhumans to suffer for things their minds could not control or understand, by an event that they could never foresee, and hopefully take away their powers for good.

His men marched the streets, checking for blood in shops, restaurants, and offices for these lab rats.

Many of these creations were found, but only a few understood how to mask the blood and live a normal life, even if their blood was manufactured to be unique.

Many affected were lovers, where the relationships led to children. Some people only have half of this gene, or they are a full blood. Most were half bloods, weaker than the full bloods, which were very dangerous and rare.

Not afraid of Wayne, this was an opportunity to use their powers as strength to fuel revolution, uprisings, and destruction. Villains like Sidestep, Multiplex, Mr. Mimic ruled the streets, trying to get what they want to terrorize the town.

When London calls for justice, Samantha, or Hyde, must step up. Her identity lived as double, taking on a normal life as a news anchor. The other, an infamous hero controlling water to take down the growing hysteria.

She works with a small team, known as the Squad. Momentum and Bypass, close companions provide the added strength to heal the city.

What happens when this small group of heroes run into another?

The team calls themselves the Sidemen, a group of seven with superhero blood.

Stormzy, his real identity being Simon Minter, is one that catches Samantha's eye. The way he could control the weather with ease, bringing gusts and storms to throw off his opponents game always fascinated Samantha.

In an accidental team up, Simon saves Hyde's life, and she has acted strange ever since. Her heart fills with emotions that it hard to understand, and in her line of work, it is dangerous.

Will Sam stay above water, or will she drown?
