-Samantha's Pov-
I walked it to news station and saw that I was already too late. They replaced the early morning anchor with Jessica, leaving no seat for me.
She was in every way more perfect than me. Her dark brown eyes, her perfect hair, how she was always there when I wasn't, including. She is my villian without the powers.
I was glad this wasn't a permanent switch and I want getting fired. Just a smaller paycheck. I sighed, but decided to stay since I had nothing better to do since Amy and Taz were sleeping after last night's encounter with Sidestep.
Jessica looked over at my partner Kevin and smiled. "You ready?"
He nodded and they both looked at the center camera. "Good morning London and welcome to London 24. I am Jessica Gibbons." She started.
"And I am Kevin Wells." He finished.
She turned to the camera on the left of her to get a closer angle, just like I would. "Breaking News this morning when the superhero group called the Sidemen caused total panic on the streets as they tried to take down the Mr. Mimic after he attempted to.." she continued, but I zoned her out, letting my mind rant to myself.
How come the Sidemen make the news but never my group? We still work our butts off in the field to protect this city, but we never have gotten acknowledged for it. It also pains me that the good superhumans are thought as the bad guys to the normal blood, but they still will call us super'heroes', I thought to myself.
I groaned slightly in annoyance, running my hand under the blood scanner, which dinged slightly, acknowledging that I was normal, taking a seat behind the camera and crew.
I saw Simon burst through the doors, almost out of breath from running to work so he wouldn't be late. His hair was damp from the rain and his clothes clung onto his chest.
I looked at his weather station and there was already a replacement for him. Sierra Davidson, but she had a small scratch along the side of her face which I could tell was made very recently.
"Dammit." He whispered under his breath, seeing disappointment in his eyes.
I giggled at his comment. "Welcome to the crew." I mentioned.
He was too focused on the Sierra to hear me, and frowned, talking a seat next to me after scanning himself as well. "Why aren't you sitting up there?" He asked, seeing Jessica basically carry the entire show.
I looked at him slightly, surprised he actually was speaking to me. The only time we did talk was on the air. To hide my expressions, I acted casual.
"Same reason." I paused, flickering my eyes back to the set. "I was a bit late."
"It wasn't my fault! My friend that usually drives me couldn't."
"Same excuses Minter." I shook my head in shame.
"Not like you do much better." He came back. "Do I need to remind you of the 'My cat was sick' excuse?"
"I didn't think they knew I was highly allergic to them." I mumbled, but played along with a small chuckle.
We both laughed, and he got comfortable in his seat, exhausted. I decided to get up and grab one of the donuts the crew brings every morning for us. I was happy today was the day they brought the cinnamon sugar donuts, since they were my favorite.
I sat down at my work station and decided to write a new story for them to put on later that dealt with the fight with Sidestep earlier since nobody else knew or cared.
