-Taz's Pov-
I watched as everyone settled down, supersuits already put away. Amy flopped into her bed and pulled out her phone, texting her best friend Sean, with a small smile everytime her phone went off. Sam sat on the couch, distressed. Cara sat at her desk, typing away, coding a new device.
Sam told the team that Stormzy knew who she was. Every single one of us were not as recognized as Sam was with her news coverage. If a single word came out of his mouth, she would be hunted like a deer in the forest by all of London.
With the rest of us, our scenario was much more easier to handle because on the streets, we were nobody. Our faces weren't on the televisions on the side of the streets, posters of us were not on the subway, and none of us were recognized for our jobs.
I felt a small vibration in my pocket, and my phone screen lit up with a new text.
'You are going to be late.' I read silently.
I smirked, remembering my plans for the day. "Cara, I am gonna be out for a bit." I said, seeing the computer screen illuminate onto her tanned skin, making her skin seem fair.
Her eyes bounced back and forth, scanning for flaws of the mixed letters and numbers that not even an expert could comprehend, not even glancing at me. She was too distracted with the coding to recognize my voice as she typed onto her keyboard. I was sure one of the keys were going to break at any moment, but somehow she persisted.
I sighed, shrugging my shoulders. "Alright then." I said, knowing I would never be able to grab her attention with what Sam had at stake.
I walked out of the room and made a portal to my destination where a nicely organized desk stood in the middle of my portal. Everyone else was sure not to walk in on my plans.
I was glad to see that he wasn't in the room talking, because any noises made could give me away, even with them not present in the room.
I walked in, and sat comfortably in the expensive chair, propping my legs onto the desk, seeing my dirty white laces lay onto the dark brown wood.
I closed the portal, and saw the dark painting behind it. It was fairly old, before London became supernatural. I could see the paint seeping through the canvas, adding a bumpy texture when looked at in detail. There was little message or meaning behind the poster, so it wasn't for artistic expression that I could tell. It seemed more to be a symbol of wealth and power with what the painting was of.
A man with deep dark eyes stared brutally into whatever looked at it, giving the feeling of Mona Lisa but gave more shivers down my spine. He wore a maroon red tie, making the color hue of blood. His posture and size made it feel like he could be his own army. His pitch black hair was very short, only being cut probably a week before the painting begun by a razor.
"My dad." I heard someone say beside me. "That was when he was the mayor in my hometown. All the mayors had one of them. I keep it to remind myself that I need to try to be what he wanted me to be."
"I can see the resemblance." I turned and saw Crudzle, I didn't flinch at his presence, since this wasn't the first time I have met him. "I am sorry I am late. I had to ensure my team thought I was just going out for the day."
He nodded. "It is fine Taz. I know you are playing a risky game with them at your side."
I chuckled. "It is so hard to get them occupied. I am glad Stormzy made a mess with Hyde so they are plenty busy."
He walked around to across where , sitting in the smaller chair. He propped his arms against the arms of the chair and held his hands together showing strength in his arms, and two veins popped out. "Details." He started. "We have a deal Rogers."
"Whenever Hyde got knocked out and the Sidemen took her in, Stormzy took a peak at her identity and knows who she is behind the mask." I said, raising my arms behind my back in comfort.
"Does anyone else in the Sidemen know?" He asked.
I shrugged. "Only one other. But they said that he was very intellectual and knew about everything. Other than that, I am not sure."
He rolled his eyes. "This would be so much easier for me if you told me their identities." He groaned. "The terror on the streets need to come to an end Rogers. Keeping this information from me prolongs my plans."
I held a single finger up, causing his complaining to come to an end. "With Stormzy in the picture, we just went to a whole new level." I smirked at him.
"It better be." He said standing up. He put his hands on his hips, causing the long sportscoat to have ripples around his waist. "My research is going to be in the hands of you, Rogers. If this happens to backfire on you, you are dead meat."
I could see the resemblance between him and his father. They had the same dark, haunting eyes like the painting had, causing me to stiffen against the chair. "I have it under control." I said, holding my hands up in defense.
"If that deal breaks, you will take your teams place. And we both know that isn't what you want." He said, his voice booming onto me, feeling the sound in my stomach.
I nodded. His last project failed, and the superhuman ended up dying as far as he knows. She disappeared but its been a year since Julia's incident, but I couldn't help since I didn't know who she was. But she died without leaving her mark. She had no legacy, and that isn't what I wanted for myself.
I wanted Crudzle's legacy. His wealth. His fame. I wanted it all.
He knew what he was doing, and he was the most important guy in the world. I wanted all of his power, even though he had no powers. I showed my fear, but it was only part of my plan to take over him.
I slowly pulled my arms that were up in the air in defense slowly back down against my sides. "Is there anything else you want?" I asked, looking down at my lap, twiddling my thumbs.
"I am making some of my research public so I don't want you freaking out when it gets revealed. I am just giving you a warning because you are very valuable to me in my endeavors." He said.
"What is it?" I asked in curiosity, bringing my head up only slightly so he could see my eyes, but not my mouth.
"I am amping the scanners. The tests that are in front of every shop, every enterance, isn't going to be surpassed as easily. Those dampers that you take to pass as ordinary won't work."
"But that took months to develop a single drug! I don't think that it will be possible for me to help you if I am locked and beaten in a cell."
"The technology is yet to be sold. You have time. I can't risk having my intelligence team helping me. My image will be shattered." He said sternly, cutring off any chance I had to have him help.
I growned, thinking to myself. Cara is going to be working very hard when he announces this.
