One attempt at going to say hi to Mr.Sonic turned into an all out quest to pronouncing a Colombian river. How did that happen? I don't even know.
I left the lunch room and LeeAnna the Fabulous Person just so happened to be leaving at the same time I did. She asked me if I could come with her to ask Mr.Elchicoespañol how to pronounce the name of a Colombian river. We first went into the bathroom, where I awkwardly waited for her. We left the bathroom then went to his door. "Let's hope he answers this time," LeeAnna said, referencing a time when she went to ask him a question but wasn't there. She knocked, but there was no answer. The lights were turned off and we peaked in the window that was on his door to see if he was there. He wasn't. We were about to leave when I just so happened to look down the 8th-grade hall and saw him walking down the 7th-grade hall. How convenient. "Hey look!" I exclaimed. "There he is!" I slightly pushed her towards him and she gave me an annoyed look. When he finally got close enough for him to hear us, LeeAnna began to speak. "Um...Mr.Elchicoespañol? Could you tell me how to pronounce something?" He said yes and she began to flip through her notes on Colombia (In Spanish, they had to do a research paper or something on the country they chose. She chose Colombia because it was the first thing she saw on the list.) "What is this for?" Mr.Elchicoespañol asked her.
"It's for the project."
"Oh. Oh. Good!"
She showed him the name of the plant that makes the Caño Cristales look red. " Macarenia Clavijera". He read it out loud and then helped her pronounce it. He, at this point, was standing in front of us. After he helped LeeAnna, he looks at me, who was extremely nervous and clutching onto a notebook. I didn't know what to do so I said a simple "hi". "Hi! Hello!" he says to me, walking to his door to unlock it. LeeAnna and I began to walk away.
"¡Hasta la vista!" Mr. Elchicoespañol called out.
"¡Hasta mañana!" LeeAnna called back. "Oh wait! We don't go to school tomorrow!" He laughed and entered his room as we walked outside.
"Well," I said. "That happened." I asked her if I could read the notes and when we got to the part about the Macarenia Clavijera, I didn't realize that, that was what we just went to see how it was pronounced. "Wait a second..." I said. "Isn't this just what we went to see how to pronounce?"
"I should of asked you how to pronounce it." :3
